I agree VAR is mostly a good idea but it’s been poorly executed so far.

Similar to what happens in rugby. In football there’s the advantage rules but referees rarely use it correctly.

My problem with VAR is that it kills the fluidity of the game. It’ll soon turn into American football full of stops and starts.

Personally I would scrap it as a failed experiment. Keep goal line technology and go back to how it was before.

A philosophical question for you: If you take some hockey players, rugby players, and burnball players (they don't make'em tougher than that!), and let them play football for 5 years as a profession, where their pay is linked with their and their respective teams' performances. Would they now be pussies?

Agreed, but I think it's getting better IMO.
Do you think Italy and Spain would've liked VAR against South Korea 2002? That clusterfuck of home team advantage wouldn't have been possible with VAR! :)

That chance Pulisic had in the 3rd minute was it. The Dutch are going to park the bus the rest of the way and suffocate any kind of movement in the final 3rd. The US needs to pile bodies into the box and get service in to score an ugly one. They don't have the horses for that.
 
That weak ass defending doesn't belong at this level. I'm absolutely livid.

I just don't see it. van Gaal is expert at parking the bus and huffing it. Saw it at 3 years with United. The US will get one in the 88th minute to tease us.

We started great, then after 10 minutes it felt like the Dutch figured us out. Adams looks sluggish.

But anything can happen.... :x

Dutch team are really boring solid side. Need to play possession against them and try picking holes in their defence. You’ll create a few more chances in this half but you’ll need to take them. If you score early it’ll rattle them.

The Dutch didn't figure shit out. They decided after scoring to sit back and prevent the US from counterattacking and making them beat their back line. The US needed to score first to have a chance in this one.
 
The US doesn't play the right kind of style to come from this far behind against what the Dutch are going to do sitting back. Was nice while it lasted.

I'd like to see Messi win a world cup.

I'd also like to see Ronaldo win a world cup and immediately retire.

Other than that, maybe see Japan go deep?
