Not bothering posting. Last 2-3 group buys never went anywhere. I remember interest of 1000 setups of cards that never got off the ground

Wasn't there a pre-order of a few hundred decks of CPS cards that never went anywhere either?

lol

I had three different things typed up that I just kept going back and deleting because, well, yeah.... I'm sure they are nice people, I'm sure they have a very nice product, but I will never subscribe to the notion that we are "lucky" they deal with us because they would rather have big customer business. I thought it was ridiculous when I've been told that before and I would think it was ridiculous today as well. I would love to have another group buy going, I would love for it to come from PGI, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm not even going to put enough stock into it to post in the thread over on CT. That's definitely saying something coming from me, I've supported CT and vendors plenty in the past, I just don't see the point right now.

I dont feel like I was piling on, just stating facts from my past experience. If a group buy happens. GREAT! If not, not going to sweat it because my hopes aren't up this time.

Averaging less than a post a day, CT is truly gone. Abby's the only person nobly applying CPR to a brain-dead patient.

The owner has shown absolutely no sense of stewardship toward his members/customers. None.

I wouldn't buy *anything* -- even mint Paulson Vineyards, at ten cents each -- over there. And I urge everyone else here, in our own self-interest, to adopt the same position.

I can understand your sentiment, especially since supporting this site is a great way to say thank you to Tommy for such a good site....

I'm pretty sure even @Tommy would buy mint Paulson Vineyards from the a blue wall classified ad for $0.10 each. :whistling:

Lol you guys all pass on the .10/chip minty Paulsons over there.... and I will too of course... Oh look they all just sold to some cheese guy in WI... :sneaky::whistle: :whistling:

How about we just let old grudges die instead of wishing ill will on people for goodness sakes. Just continue on here without knocking CT all the time. It will make you feel better guaranteed. All the haters....

AFAIK, there's no "grudge."It's not hate; it's disappointment. And I don't see anyone wishing anyone ill will.

It's resentment at time being wasted, because I still check CT at least twice a day, on my way here. And it's hope wasted, because most of us wanted it to come back, despite the fact that it was never really competently run.

Now I could readily understand a grudge and some degree of hate on the part of those who bought "lifetime" memberships, but I wasn't one of them. I supported the site for a few years, but saw the piss-writing in the snow before I became a lifer.

Turns me off.

Sorry, but that's life. It turned me off to get drafted in 1966, too, but I got over it.

You miss all the hate posts Larry? You haven't seen them? Really?

Whatever - what I'm saying is that is the one detriment to this otherwise excellent site.

FWIW I haven't seen much hate for CT around here either. Maybe a lot of jokes and arguably morbid humor regarding the activity (or lack thereof), but not much hate.

However, there is exactly one reason that I continue to have an extremely low opinion of Greg and it is the first post in this thread in which he purposefully misrepresents the china clay line of Pharaohs as "true clay poker chips" and a "true compression molded clay chip".

I bitched about this plenty back in the days of CT and received not a single response from Greg. It was and is an abhorrent business practice and it made clear to me that he had more of an interest in advertising china clay Pharaohs than any meaningful contribution to the hobby. The fact that he knew these chips were garnering massive interest among people who had no prior knowledge of chips and continued to describe china clay chips in this way is despicable.

I can forgive and forget a lot, but at the bare minimum someone has to acknowledge that they fucked up. The fact that this misleading advertisement remains on such a prominent site and likely continues to confuse new hobbyists prevents me from thinking Greg is worth a single second of my time or any amount of support.

The only way we get away from all of this is completely forget about mentioning the other site. That won't work because it still has some valuable info and a great place to meet some of the new and future chippers.
I do not think people would be craping on the site as much if the owner showed at least a bit of involvement. He hasn't checked in for months!!! I am not sure what happened in his life or might still be happening but some sort of statement would be great which would probably stop some of the "hate" posts.
I for one do not hate the other site but I do not like the fact that someone who runs a site and then charges folks leaves the site with no info of what to expect or explanation as to why the memberships are valueless. If I had paid I would be searching him down (only about 240 miles from me) as a matter of principle.
I commend @abby99 for what she has done for the site but what else can be done.

The whole "true clay" kack never sat right with me either. Hence the honorable mention in the "Things that are bullshit" thread.

As a (former) bastion of chip education, a primary purpose of the forum, this was a poorly judged move. Made a mockery of much of what made CT great imo.

Sucks that they are advertised that way on a separate retail site as well...

Not excusing that necessarily but I find it much more deceptive when it appears on a hobby forum run by a purported hobbyist.
