Can someone tell me if lucky horseshoe chips feel like monte carlos do? Im looking for a new set but i dont like the way the monte carlos feel but i want a nice heavy chip. Thanks!
okay thankyou. i got some samples coming in of a few different brands and want to purchase a 1000pc tournament set. i just really want to make the purchase countAssuming these are the Lucky Horseshoes you’re talking about and also assuming feel like the Monaco Casinos I own, they do not feel like the Monte Carlos from Apache (dunno if they’d feel like the DPS version).
The Monte Carlos’ surface feels more plasticky. The Monaco Casino/Lucky Horseshoe obviously don’t feel like clay but they seem less “clacky” than Monte Carlos.
I think chips like the Monte Carlo and Casino Royale are trying to mimic plastic chips like Bud Jones, while Lucky Horseshoes and Monaco Casinos are trying to mimic clay. I prefer the latter.
thankyou! my budget is about .50/.60 a chip and i want a big set. royals are my dream set and i see a set for sale right now but i dont have access to reply to the post ....I second what @TheOffalo says. The Monaco Casinos are nice for the money. Much softer and less slippery feel than some of the other slugged plastics. Seems like the Lucky Horseshoe, Outlaw, and (I believe) Spartans are the same material. People seem to like them.
IMO, the downsides are: 1) some slight, but noticeable color differences within a couple of the denominations, 2) the pink $5000 chips were harder and more slippery than the rest, and 3) I'm not crazy about the 13.5g weight, but that's just part of the deal.
If you can jump up to the China clays, particularly the Royals, I think you may be happier. But get samples.
Welcome to PCF!
You just need a few more posts to reach 10 so you can comment on the classifieds. You should be able to PM the seller.thankyou! my budget is about .50/.60 a chip and i want a big set. royals are my dream set and i see a set for sale right now but i dont have access to reply to the post ....
That budget should be able to get you a "better" (it's personal preference of course) class of chips, but if you really do prefer heavier chips (11g or more per chip) then for your budget you'd have to choose between cheaper slugged chips or slightly more expensive, but lighter (~9g/chip) China Clays.thankyou! my budget is about .50/.60 a chip and i want a big set. royals are my dream set and i see a set for sale right now but i dont have access to reply to the post ....
Do you really need 1000pcs? I ask because that amount might be overkill unless you're hosting multi-table games. If you actually only need 500pcs you can double your budget and get better chips.okay thankyou. i got some samples coming in of a few different brands and want to purchase a 1000pc tournament set. i just really want to make the purchase count
guess i like the idea of never worrying of running out. I would like a premium set but nothing premium is available…majestics is as premium as i can find and they are out of 1000’s and 5000’s. I can get the 13.5 monacos for $220 for 1000pc’sDo you really need 1000pcs? I ask because that amount might be overkill unless you're hosting multi-table games. Agreed. Even a 600 chip set will do a 20 person tournament quite nicely.Do you really need 1000pcs? I ask because that amount might be overkill unless you're hosting multi-table games. If you actually only need 500pcs you can double your budget and get better chips.
I see now my mistake has been thinking all 10 people and the re-buys all had to be the same denomination stacks. Thanks for the reply!Agreed. Even a 600 chip set will do a 20 person tournament quite nicely.
For a T25 tournament, you could use:
T 25 - 160
T 100 - 160
T 500 - 80
T 1k - 140
T 5k - 60
For 1 table (12/12/5/7) or 2 table (8/8/4/7) with 10k starting stacks.
