Nano Stakes Player Complaints (2 Viewers)

Only read the original post so sorry if someone already suggested it. One way to save some of the suckers is to limit the big bet to something like $2. Since no one is respecting raises anyway, it shouldn't limit the strategy much, and save some people having to buy in again. Only allow all-ins when it's down to heads up.

I would just cut out the cash game entirely. Some people need to know that there is no safety net, you get felted, you are done. It makes them think twice before shoving.

If you are afraid of the bad-beat, allow 1 rebuy. Sure, you can hit a bad beat twice in one night, but a little caution takes place when you were once-bitten.

On to your questions...
SO I guess its time for the question:
How do I help this group maximize their fun and try to correct the behavior that is causing them to complain?
Tournaments, as noted above. Make the blind structure such that it would take a reasonable player half the night to lose their stack.

---Do I try again and really push hard to educate people on poker? How do I go about it? Nothing I have tried so far has stuck, and I do not want to come off as snobby by any means. I just don't know what to do when the issues they are having is because the players put themselves in these spots. They don't seem to care enough to listen, but care enough to complain about how others play.
I don't try to "teach" strategy. I will discuss why I made a certain call, bet, raise, etc. They will glean a lot of information from this, and they will get better. However, do not try to tell them "this is what you should do", just say "I just did this because...". Most likely, they will also start sharing, and you can point out -EV errors when they state them.

---In addition to lowering stakes, do I try and learn limit games and teach them? Do I just introduce bet limits in general to keep the game going longer? I have no idea how to play limit games. I also have no idea what to make the bet limits to mimic what a normal NL 5c/10c game to be like. I also dont know if I need a new chip breakdown for that or not. I don't understand small bet/big bet, etc. Are there good write ups that explain these things barney style?
Limit likely will not help. One can chase forever without the fear of a jam and still lose all night. In fact, it just feels easier to chase in limit, which is not a good behavior to foster.

Maybe they would prefer a Monopoly night instead? :ROFLMAO:

Idk, sounds very odd. People are going to complain in any game, I'd say if they don't want to play then they don't have to - especially for the issues they are complaining about, considering they aren't really issues. You can offer lowering the stakes, but players will complain. Raise the stakes, people will complain. Switch to limit game, people will complain.

Man, I just read thru this thread....late to the game, I know. I can fix the problems in both games for about .99, but first let me say this:

***if you go thru many of my posts, you will see that many times I promote LIMIT poker for home games, and I do so for several reasons. I am not going to suggest that here. Your stakes are also already low enough, and you have correctly identified your player's bitches are ALL self induced....you have the worst players in the last decade....also your older players are trying to hand you money.

So here's my suggestion:
-go to CVS and buy some ear plugs....then beat the shit out of these awful players until they quit or learn to play poker.

I do every week financially, don't worry. I did straight up tell them about how sick I am of having to remind them it's their action every hand, to post their blinds every hand, to pay attention when it is their action....every hand, how sick I am of them being children about "the river rat" hitting his gutters over and over and sulking about it. We will see if they change. I am taking a break this week from them so I can maintain my sanity. I set my expectations and told the problem players about my grievances and how to fix theirs. The ball is in their court.

I love my friends, but I sincerely suggested just playing Jack Box games or something else instead if people didn't wanna pay attention and play the game for the lowest stakes possible. I did my best to make sure they had fun trying to learn the game and get better, but the rest is up to them. I feel like a self righteous prick saying that in a way, but I don't really know what else to say.

This is the game that got me interested in poker to begin with last year, so it is a little difficult to let it go. It's the reason I even came here to begin with to be honest, I came here to learn and get better so I could run my own home games with my friends and understand what I was doing so we could all have fun. Now, I play at the casino with other friends of mine 1-2x a week and play in a bunch of other home games a week. When I move, I may even try and run my own bar league if I can.

This place made me love poker.

Poker probably isn't right for them, and I have even stated that. If they insist on playing still, that's fine....but I am done bending over backwards for it. I have held their hand this far, if they want to continue playing, they can learn to walk themselves.

Luckily, in these weird games, I at least leave with around 3x what im in for usually.
Except the old lady in the other passive home game, she always walks away the big winner as 5x or more her buy in. Can't win em all.

Story Time:
She called a 3 bet as the BB vs 2 other players. Check-called all the way down.

Board runout: K74J2

P1: AKh
P2: KQo
Her: Literally fucking 72

"Gotta protect my blind"

lol, I love this game.
