School me on THC chips for a set (2 Viewers)

Being poor, I had to make my own Ponderosa-inspired chip (in the pipeline, currently). NOT cheap, still.

Anyone like fly fishing? I own a fly shop and guide service here in Montana. I have a ton of high end gear. We carry Simms, Patagonia, Sage, Winston, Scott, Ross, etc. I could setup a pretty freaking sweet gear package. If this is inappropriate to post somebody let me know. LOL

Ponderosa is definitely a goat 25 IMO. I've never seen a rack, never even seen a barrel. A great alternative is the secondary Aztar 25. It's a nice bright green chip.
Right? If there are some to find in quantity, I guess I’d be surprised

Talk with Jim from The Chip Room...he has a sweet spot for high end fishing gear

Out of curiosity what do most house molds feel like? We have talked about RHC, THC, and leaded THC but I have not really learned much about the Paulson House Mold. I know most folk's do not prefer the aesthetics of the mold, but where do they stand in terms of feel and sound?

What are the more desirable / colorful BCC sets around?
Subjective for bcc owners due to molds feeling so different. As far as stock sets go, Grand Cardroom cash set is one of the best cash sets. Capitol room is highly regarded too.

Tourney sets - most bcc are pretty nice and colorful on the high cash denoms so they make for good tourney sets. Strictly tourney set though I would say GCOP, Grand Cardroom bluesman, and of course customs.

BCC In Play on the cigar & snifter mold is my personal holy grail set. But I literally NEVER see them for sale in any quantity. The Protege set, also on the C&S mold seems to be a little more plentiful.

In Play up top and Protege down below. That $500 is FIRE!

Edit: corrected my brain fart.

At first, I was dismissive of the Inplays, and vaguely interested in the Proteges. But now I've come to be meh on the Proteges (great chips, but I'm happy to give them a pass) and have grown very fond of the Inplays.

Most folks seem to like the Proteges more than the Inplays, though. Or maybe they just talk about them more because there's more of them.

Caesars house mold is dope and easily as good or better than THC. Go to Vegas and fondle them for yourself.

From a sound, feel, and damage potential perspective, most modern house molds are better than RHC molds; however, some are worse. As you noted, aesthetics vary from mold to mold and are totally user/viewer dependent.

In general, leaded house molds >> unleaded, but are typically rare and either expensive or very worn.

Well.....the final pieces to this first puzzle have arrived and I would like to update this thread. Some corners were cut and some changes were made along the way. Overall I am pretty darn happy with the lineup and my original vision. Eventually I will get all these chips cleaned up proper and take better photo's but this is what I have for now. I learned a ton while putting this set together and had a bunch of fun hunting down these chips, meeting some really great members along the way. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen.

For those of you that have been following my exploits and are wondering "What about the Norwegian Cruise Line $25's?" Well.....winning those chips was a game changer and after giving it some thought I felt like they needed better. Meaning they should be surrounded by mixed inlays, all lead, and a proper spot progression. LOL. The hunt continues.........

Congratulations, a mixed set anyone most certainly would be proud of!

And I wouldn't call it "corners cut". If you're anything like most of us, hang around for just a little bit and you'll have plenty of opportunities to modify and improve. Those Silver Stars are an iconic hot stamp frac, you can't go wrong with Flamingos (almost a rite of passage), the Casablanca/Aztar spot progression is slick, and that Eddies BOH is ... well, Fabulous.

Cheers and good luck on your continued search(es)!

yah those fracs and the cruise 25s are endgame kind of pieces. the 5s and 1s will be tough. can you imagine someone dropping 4 mint racks of claim stake 5s on auction or something? battle royale lol

this set is amazing yes the eagles that’s a dream chip! Also the kings maybe 1$ goat?
Some people think the King's are GOAT 1s. Me, I dunno, they're pretty as hell and definitely one of my favorites, same with the Eagles :) Both can be tricky to work with if you're a spot progression nut, so why not put them both in the same set?

You really did a fantastic job in such a short amount of time. Good for you man! I thought you were gonna slide those boat chips in place of the Aztar's, but the Aztar's are awesome as well :)
