The Return of Av8tion - Poker as an Income Stream (1 Viewer)

I once asked about the chip in the lodge live stream, poker club house are in the grey area for license holder to place an other with Paulson for clay chip, also it is more financially more affordable to use ceramic chip compared to CPC as they are also more durable as well.

They will also rather invest the money saved from chip and used in training their dealer and room staff.

The lodge is my local club. Lots of great action there but not the best chips.

I loved their stream @toothpic lmk if you ever appeared in one of their 1/3 or 5/5 stream I will be there supporting a fellow PCF
I probably won't play on the live stream. Don't want someone that knows my family saying they saw me online playing poker lol

Update #11

The upswing comes to an end in spectacular fashion.

My first (and last) visit to TCH in Spring resulted in me getting sucked out on in 4 major hands by people calling massive preflop raises with the likes of Q5o, 53o, 75o, etc. On top of that, they have this idiotic thing where you have to play a hand of Omaha on every orbit... on top of the stupid Texas-wide bullshit of doing an omaha bomb pot every dealer change.... needless to say, I was furious with my experience there and will never be returning.... lost most of the $1500 I brought to the game after adding on twice. I decided to pack up before I killed someone, eat some pizza... reload another couple bullets from the bankroll box... and head over to The Hangar.

Did I ever mention that I love the Hangar? One nut flush and a turned straight later, I leave in about an hour of play up over $600 to ease the suffering of the previous beating... I would've played for longer but my flight for work leaves at 6am tomorrow.. so that's all for poker until I hit the Cincinnati Hard Rock in a few days. I'm bringing 2.5k with me for my 2-week pattern... I'm hoping to get at least 6-7 sessions in between having to fly.

Honestly, it may be a really good thing to kinda "break the reverse curse" before heading out to work. I no longer have the "when's the winning streak gonna end" cloud hanging over my head. I can just get back into the swing of things and take each session as it comes without worrying about "extending the streak".

Thanks for the updates. I was going to venture over to TCH soon as I pass it 3-4 times a week... now i may just spend the extra time and head to your side of the woods if I decide to play live.

Those chips have an EPT ceramic vibe.
I believe that’s what they are. They aren’t the worst chips but once they get a little gunked up they stick some. I have a hard time counting them out for a bet.

Update #12

Welcome to CVG!

My schedule ended up being more packed than I was hoping, so the number of games I'm gonna be able to grind out here won't be as many as I'd hoped.

After waiting for about an hour for the must-move to open, I sat down at the 2/5 game. $800 max buyin. I buy in for the max as always. Only two major hands to speak of during the session... otherwise standard vegas-style 2/5 play.

First hand I play, I defend the straddle from a SB raise without looking at my cards... I do this sometimes to discourage people raising my blind all the time thinking i'll always fold as well as making it harder to put me on a range if I literally have no range... Flop of K-2-3. SB c-bets, I look down at K-2 for the concealed two pair and call. Turn 7. He bets, I raise, he calls. River 7 (fml). He checks... I angrily check back and he tables AK. Lost the minimum... oh well...

The other big hand I played of note I raised to $15 with 9-9 in late position and the blind calls. Flop 2-7-8 rainbow. She checks, I bet $35, she calls. Turn card is a T. She checks, I bet $80, she calls. River is a J. She leads out for 210... I go into the tank... for about 2 seconds... and snap-call with the nines. She shows 5-6 for the missed straight and I take down the pot.

In the end... 3 of the 7 other players at the table are brothers (obviously not colluding... they were beating the shit out of each other in fact) and all good... and I had a long day coming in from Miami, so I rack up after two hours and book a small win to get things headed in the right direction. Possible afternoon session tomorrow before I have to work my real job on Sunday...

Starting Bankroll: $13,854

Location: Hard Rock Casino, Cincinnati, OH

Stakes: 2/5 NLHE

Time: 2 Hours

Buyins: $2,000 (The poker cage isn't open so I have to walk all the way to the casino cage to buy chips, so all my buyins will be $2k... I put the extra blacks in my pocket in case I need to reload at the table)

Cashouts: $2,257

Result: $257

Ending Bankroll: $14,111

Yeah, not a fan of ceramics in a casino setting. They're either super slick from being worn out or sticky from funk.

Update #13

More CVG Action!

Sat at the start of the 2/5 game and played for 2 hours. Made some good bluffs, some good folds, and basically did what I could with the crappy cards I was getting. In the 2 days I've been here, I got dealt QQ once and haven't gotten aces, kings, AK, or AQ once. Honestly I'm surprised I'm up as much as I am here considering how card-dead I've been. Half the game was played with a $10 button straddle which helped things along a little with me as I've played hands on the straddle that I would otherwise fold. Other than that, nothing really exciting to speak of... About half the profit was made on one hand where I had ATd on a board with two aces on the flop and runner-runner diamonds on the turn and river. I got A7 to pay off an overbet raise on the river.

Overall, my reads have been pretty solid these last two days and I've been getting away from trouble spots and making the right calls when necessary. Here's hoping that there's more of the same in the future. Possible session after my flights tomorrow if I'm not back here too late, otherwise the next session will be at the Hard Rock on Monday. I only played for 2 hours today since 2 of the 3 donators at the table went broke and they were replaced with more serious players. I'll just rack up and wait for a better moment instead of play against a bunch of good players with half the money I brought for this trip on the table...

Update #14

Unfortunately, you can't win sometimes... but you can try to limit the damage....

Got drawn out on a few hands including a 2k pot where my flopped two pair lost to an idiot calling with nothing but overs backdooring a straight...

one interesting hand came about midway through...

AKo early position raise to 15, CO calls, BB calls.
Flop A-5-6 two diamonds. BB checks, I c-bet 40, CO raises to 130, BB folds, I reraise to 300, CO moves all-in for another 350or so more, and I tank for about 3-4 minutes and fold. :wow:

I put him on ATd AJd AQd 5-5 or 6-6.... so either I'm flipping or drawing dead... he shows ATd and we and up having a friendly conversation about the hand for the next orbit or so... I know someone's gonna ream me for folding AK there and it may not be mathematically correct to fold, but I felt my money was better spent in more favorable situations.... like flopping 2 pair and losing to runners later on...

This concludes my poker escapades in Cincinnati as well as poker in general for a little while. There's no more opportunity to play until I get back home the middle of next week. It sucks to go into a long break on a red marker, but sometimes it helps to remember that I'm only expecting to win 80% of my sessions and not all of them. Giving the idiots money every now and again keeps them coming back to donate even more than what you've given them...

Buyins: $2,000

Cashouts: $1,170

Why re raise him on the flop? You could just call I suppose... then check call to river barring any diamond, J, Q or 10. Tough spot no doubt.

Make him define his hand, make him pay more than he should with just a flush draw, get value from an ace, protect my c-bet range from light 3-bets in the future... everything kinda screams raise here for me.

Sounds like there is about 1k in the pot and you have to call 350 more to win it. So roughly 3 to 1 on your money, meaning you only need 25% equity to break even

If villain is doing this with all AX combos with the flush draw then I think a call is ok

Also, where did you get the expectation you will win 80% of your sessions?

Everything I read showed cash game pros winning 2/3 of the time and my own experience with PLO over the past couple of years have shown that to be true for me

Given that you were including AdQd-AdTd in the villains range, does that mean you had the Kd blocker? What about suited connectors? Like 8d7d or JdTd?

To preface, with no knowledge on how the villain is playing nor how they perceive your play, I usually have a tough time laying the hand down as it plays out. I usually don't encounter folks who are that aggressive with their flopped sets in HE. I can see that line in Omaha.

The narrowness of what he could've had was also factored on the kind of player he was. I did not have the Kd blocker, but he never has AKd there as he would've reraised preflop as he has already done in previous situations. There's more to the decision than the math and there's no real way to convey it after the fact to people who weren't there... but the longer I thought about it, the easier of a fold it was... from what I knew he had I was either flipping or drawing dead and at this stakes I prefer not to get my money in with situations like that... better scenarios to profit pop up far too easily... in harder-to-beat stakes yeah I'd probably go for it, but with people practically throwing their money away, I'll wait for a better spot...

Update #15

Cue the downswing tuba music!

Lost the maximum due to a bunch of people playing hands they shouldn't be and getting lucky. Highlights include:
Losing Q-Q to a guy who put in triple digits preflop with 9-7 and flopping a straight.
Donkey calls a $400 allin shove with an open-ended straight draw and hits
KK loses to a guy who put in triple digits preflop with A-5 and calls a flop bet with nothing, spiking an ace on the turn

All this and much more at everyone's favorite Houston poker room! Glad to see the play there is as bad as it ever is... with these people in the seats it shouldn't be too hard to get the money back. I think for future sessions I'm going to increase my stop-loss from $1,500 to $2,000 as I typically reload for more than $500 since the max buyin is match-the-stack once the game is started.

Starting Bankroll: $14,107

Stakes: 1/3 NLHE

Time: 4 Hours

Buyins: $1,500

Update #16

As I said, with the play so bad, it shouldn't be hard to grind back my losses...

Last night, we spent the entire session in the green. Most of the hands played themselves with a few major pots on the winning and losing side. No tough decisions this time, just playing solid for ten hours and making the most out of situations. Highlights include:

Stacking one player with a wheel when I had 25o from the button straddle (I almost always do button straddles once the game gets big enough.. it raises the stakes and I'm in position.)

Losing JJ vs KK allin preflop to a short stack for a $200 pot (standard)

Stacking another player who shoved allin on a 4-4-5 flop when I'm holding 45o on the straddle. (thank you for your kind donation)

I finished about $300 or so off my high and pretty much treaded water for the last 4 hours, but all in all it's nice to book a decent-sized win right after a 2.3k downswing.

It's been a busy 48 hours just getting back from work, so I just now am throwing up the updates from this week's sessions. The 1.5k loss was my first night back on Wednesday, and the above one was last night. Planning on heading out again this afternoon. I'm expecting an ultra-easy game since the good players will probably all be at the 5-5 PLO table that they run on Fridays. This should leave the randoms and droolers at the 1/3 NL game. Hopefully, I'll be able to dine on some low-hanging fruit tonight while the tougher competition GAMBOOOOLs it up in the PLO game.

In for 2k out for zero....

AK loses to KJ for 2k
Top pair loses to 2nd pair that turns trips.
Pair and nut flush draw loses to flopped bottom two pair...

I may be taking a small break from these monkeys so I can get in a better mental state, because these morons are really something...

Can you share the hand history for these?

not really... the hands kinda speak for themselves... I don't keep the same kind of in-depth hand histories as online players or some of the others here..

Let’s use AK vs KJ as an example - did you get it all in pre flop?
