New people get sent a PM giving them an ignore list to use before they even have 10 posts.
Admins abusing their authority and removing people’s data from databases because they are mad at them.
Asshat Clause
Voting blocs for HOF sets

yeah, we’re all in this together.
Yes.... Yes... Let the hate flow thru you....

It was @Perthmike wasn't it?!

And what's that? Do you mean not allowing rando John Smiths from registering and going to the voting thread to cast a vote for himself or his friend? If so, yes, we block brand new members from casting votes on HOF polls because I've caught at least 4 members creating dup accounts and casting votes on their sets in the past.
You mean you caught when Kosh Jifer kept on voting for the cactus Pete's?

I'm aware of the asshat clause (flashy new name, very old concept), but this is the first I've heard of the other three items.

Btw...
Ass Hat Clause = AHC = Actions Have Consequences

Get with the program BGinGA. This is the thunderdome! And I heard every PCFer needs to become vegan and isn't allowed to wear shoes anymore. It's madness!

sense of community here. I see trip reports and meetup threads with all the great times had among many members here.
This still happens and it's amazing. Screw all the internet drama, NAGBGB, ignore lists, auctions, pictures of @Perthmike's watches, and get to a live meetup. Most of the people here are fantastic. Filter out the rest of the noise.

I would have lost a paycheck betting that no member would create duplicate accounts to boost their HOF vote count.

Don’t forget about the requirement that you shake hands left handed now too.
....... LEFT HANDS? THATS IT... IM COVERING MY VEHICLE IN HAND PRINTED SIGNS AGAINST ALL ON PCF THAT HAVE WRONGED ME.

that'll show everyone I'm sane and PCF is wrong....

It's rather remarkable the number of people who try to game the system with multiple user accounts. Not just for HOF voting, either.

Outside of running up their own auctions, I just don't understand the upside at all. Winning a HOF set vote results in what, pride? Which is null to the winner anyway if they win through their own manipulation. I had to laugh at Tommy's post on it because the notion is just so hilariously pathetic.

Why ship somewhere you have no legal enforcement of deal satisfaction with?
What risk is there shipping chips after they've been paid for? Also, if that's the concern, why CONUS? Why not ship to Alaska or Hawaii? It's still the same country. The CONUS thing only makes sense if the seller is including shipping, it's why the term started. I can see that, if I was selling as shipping included, I'd say Canada shipping included, international at buyer's cost.

I feel like half the CONUS guys don't even understand what the CONUS is.

Even he ships internationally though.

This!! :ROFLMAO:

HOF is like 'employee of the month' awards. Always going to be perceived as very politicky, and results in one happy person and many hurt feelings. Chips are a passionate thing for everyone, like babies. A baby HOF or votes for the best baby of 2021 doesn't really increase sense of community.

Believe it. Some really take it seriously! You should have seen the voting years ago when I ran the PCF Calendar!!!. Pride is a very real thing.

And thank you @CraigT78 for two things! 1. Taking over the Calendar and 2. For this post!! Spot on!

I’m curious with all the VPN stuff if a scammer could come back undetected. @Tommy ??

I'm sure that is a possibility on any website. Without going into details on what tools and resources we use, it's actively looked for here. Many of the restrictions put on new accounts are for the protection of the community which has always been my top priority.

I 100% believe (and I am one of them) the desire and want to have their customs in the HOF is high, but if your in because you voted for yourself a bunch of times that just seems very weird to me.

I’d be more concerned with scam possibilities and running up auctions and padding sales prices in the multiple username category than HOF votes.

VERY old concept. “We reserve the right to refuse to do business with anyone.”

I’m befuddled as to why this would even be debated. If someone’s an Asshole (to you), you can choose not to interact with, sell to, buy from, or engage with them. Plain and simple. “Community” has nothing to do with this concept. Especially if you’ve never met that person in person before.

I have discovered that things are different when you meet a person in real life, though. When I went to MinnieMania and realized how much fun meetups were, I was excited to try and attend another one. I noticed several of my PCF friends were attending another one a couple of flying hours away from me. So I PM’ed the host letting him know of my interest to attend.

He was incredibly polite in declining, providing the simple explanation that it was his first meetup and already stressed about it, and having someone whose online personality rubbed him the wrong way just wasn’t worth the additional stress. He added that if we ever did meet, he couldn’t see why we couldn’t have a perfectly cordial conversation and relationship. And he predicted correctly, as we sat next to each other at dinner in Vegas, and in fact, had a perfectly lovely chat, unmarred by any online persona issues.
