I've heard bits and pieces of what's going on, but this is the first time I've essentially had some of the information confirmed.
Death threats? Shame on you. If I ever find out who did this regardless of the circumstances you're on the no sale/block/asshat/no Christmas card list. I'm mortified that any kind of physical harm, never mind death threats are being thrown around about chips. Clay discs. Get a grip. I'd be angry too if I got scammed out of money, but that's over the top.
Poppin, if you're reading this, which it seems like you are, let me offer this advice from a third party with no stake in the current affairs. Get help. Cut yourself off from the hobby and anything to do with it and with any kind of gambling once you've taken the steps to make amends and to start making people whole. That starts with addiction counseling and getting yourself a new job. I'm very sorry from the bottom of my heart that you lost your job. I'm not going to continue to harp on what's going on, but ignore the noise and focus on getting yourself right and start to make steps towards making others whole. You did choose to take money from this community to cover your debts elsewhere. It's not excusable. You know this already. Best wishes.

I’m also positive unbanning Poppin will be no threat as who in their right mind would transact with him. On the other hand using a vpn he could still be here with another identity possibly planning another scheme (unlikely but possible). The whole thing should seriously make us reconsider under insuring packages and using PPFF WITHOUT using a credit card at the least for some level of protection.
Considering the source for this info is Poppin, I don't think you should be shaming people.

If he is being straight up, then sure, this is great advice. Usually thieving POS are also lying POS. Who knows if anything he is saying is actually true. Its been suggested several times, but charges need to at least be attempted. Even if its international with little hopes of sticking. A complaint needs to be filed with the local authorities. IMO, you don't usually get caught the first time. No telling how many people he has stolen from, lied too, scammed, or fraudulent activity that he has been a part of.
Personally, I don't believe a damn thing that he says.
For the record. I don't have a stake in this either. I refused to deal with him after the initial suspicions rolled in.

Personally I think unbanning him to allow him to speak for himself is a terrible idea. He’s shown himself to be a shithead, why open that can of worms again?

Listen, though not directly, I work with addicts and junkies on a daily basis as a medical provider. Some folks are beyond helping. I'll be the first to admit this. Those that do go to AA, rehab, etc end up better in the long run than those that don't. Poppin, by accounts, had a steady job and a wife to support. He has lots of motivation to get help and get his life together, but whether he does remains to be seen. I hope he takes this as a learning experience that there are consequences for his actions. He should by no means get off scott free. All avenues should be explored to file reports to make whole those that are out money, whether it comes from poppin by force or on his own accord.
As @Steppenwolf mentioned, if he's lying, he's lying. There's no shaming of anyone going on then. But if that does turn out to be true than those people should be ashamed.
@detroitdad , I don't at all disagree with you, but with poppin banned and unable to speak for himself, I'm still willing to give a sliver of the benefit of the doubt. An outright scammer would not still be following this thread and communicating with @Bloody Marvelous if he had no intentions of trying to make things right. An outright thief would maintain radio silence and ignore everything and not turn back.
I could be way off with this, but that's my read on things.

Just to go on the record regarding @horseshoez. I interact with Zaki inside and outside the forum on an almost daily basis. I early on warned him of being “stained” by Poppin and advised him to separate ASAP. Zaki has a good heart. Too good. He’s a helper no doubt about it. But to suggest that he is somehow involved in the scamming is IMO incredulous. I also believe that starting a “fund” to make victims “whole” may be pre mature it is with good intention. If there is a fund currently started (which I believe is true) and chips are delivered through NLPost (which after all this time passed I DO NOT believe will happen ) monies raised in excess of actual losses is the problem with the resolution being so swiftly executed.

For the record, for the six auctions I have out there to fundraise, my intent is to collect the winning bids and shipping costs in my own Paypal. I am going to deduct my shipping costs from the lump sum, and I will send funds to the account (I believe @BGinGA volunteered, let me know when this is confirmed), and I'll Paypal over the proceeds of the auctions to the collecting account with a screenshot of my contribution for full transparency.
I have no horse in this race but stealing from people is a great way to get hurt. Like it or not that is how the world works for some people. Don't steal and you don't have to worry about getting your ass kicked by rough folks.

If Poppin is serious, he should admit how much he stole and from whom, and give us a plan for reparations. Even if that plan is, "I need to get a job first." If some of that $19k is in chips that have been shipped but are delayed, fine. But let's cut the BS about what was outright theft. Let's discuss how things are going to be made right. Enough kicking the can down the road.
There are no plans to unban a scammer. He had already set his account settings to block all communication from PCF including changing his email prior to getting himself banned which was a calculated move on his part. All the info logged on his account has been preserved in the event that law enforcement comes knocking for it.
