Flamingo Cologne - A chip set, not a fragrance (1 Viewer)

Actually I was a few hours late with the addition of the" , DE", so the lables were already printed without it. It's fine, I think it gives it a more clean and less cluttered look. Also in Germany we don't put our equivalent of a state behind city names. It's nothing that is gonna bother me in any way. :)

The $1s stay as they are as an homage to the original and to safe on a lot of work that is not really necessary, I feel.

And yes gear textured laminate lables. :)
Fantastic looking set..im jealous..enjoy them you must be very proud

Mail day!
The add-on lables arrived way sooner than expected and I'll be able to finish the nl set tonight.

Also I got seating chip lables, very excited how those are gonna look on some peach solids.

I'll keep you posted. :)

This thread was a joy to read this morning. Thanks for sharing your journey, super cool!

You’re also motivating me to get my butt moving on my solids set too! :ninja:

I just aquired the last rack of flamingos to finish my 900/100 limit set and felt like celebrating with a little flamingo pr0n on my new table.
You have to use your imagination because the last 3 racks are at / on their way to @arch3r getting ready to be shipped to germany asap.

Nevertheless, here's the pr0n.

Awesome to see this come together, it looks great.

Since I made the tough decision to abandon my Flamingo project for the time being, I’ll just live vicariously through yours!

Thank you again for providing one of the needed racks of flamingos at a discount to make this set happen!
Other important mentions are @mattross1313 and @casinochipper22 who contributed the last missing pieces. Thank you all. You guys were a pleasure to deal with.

I know I've told you this before, but this set is superb! Very well done indeed.

Wowzers, I was gonna say true Cali colors but now that I see this set finished its obvious the colors you chose go well together and dark $20 would break up the beauty of the set so I'm glad you made the right choice with the $20 chips and bucked the "tradition". This is just WOW! P.S I'd like to think that the cherry picked Flamingo chips I sold years ago found there way into this set.

Thank you. I'm glad the set is received so warmly around here even without traditional colors. :)

Hi,
Did you buy all colors from @Darthhoodie?
"His" fuchia's seem to be in better shape than your barrel shown in the stack pictures. If so, I'd go this route:
.25/1/5/25 --> yellow/"light blue"/fuchsia/green/ and you may add a rack of white's as 0.5's

You could add some higher denoms for a single table tournament set
5/25/100/500 --> fuchsia/green/black or carochal/dark blue

What I also like is using the spot colors from the "spottes $1 chip". red, white and yellow, if I am correct.
.05 white/ .25 yellow/ 1 light blue / 5 red /25 green / 100 black / 500 fuchsia
+1 this ^^^^^

Mainly because I really like yellow frac.

Good luck and great idea!!

I've got some news for the set and another choice to make.

I've recently gotten lucky on a vendor sale because @Josh Kifer remembered me complaining about the non existent availability of canary yellows and tagged me just in time.

Behold! My stuff.

The canary yellows are a straightforward add on to the 2 racks of $5s I already have.
But!
Since I pounced on the hot pinks as well it opens up a few opportunities I am pondering now.

I think hot pink is one of the if not the best color in the Paulson lineup, especially when mixed with the flamingo $1.

The fuchsias I am using now for my 25ct are where they are because I never managed to get my hands on a decent rack of hot pink solids.

Option #1
I could just replace the fuchsias and sell those to free up some funds.
+ Easy
+ getting some money back

- losing a nice color in the lineup
- not solving the "limit set color problem"

The limit set color problem
A problem that didn't occur to me until I put the limit set ($1s and $20s as the value chip) into play:
The combination of day blue and day green is nice but still one of the weakest out of all the colors I have in the set.
Here are some pics of the limit set in action:

This brings me to
Option #2 - or as I call it:
Solving the limit set color problem
I could change the denom of the day greens from $20 to $25 and introduce the rack of hot pinks as the new $20s.
+ Having hot pink as the value chip in the limit set - perfection
+ The denom of $25 is more traditional to a green chip

- it's gonna be ~$48 just to have @Gear print the $25 lables
- it's gonna take some elbow grease to remove and replace 320 lables on the day greens
- fuchsias and hot pinks look kinda similar when photographed. Potential dirty stacks although I could just only use the $25s for no limit and keep the $20s exclusively for the limit games.

Option #3
Just introduce the hot pinks as a secondary $20 and leave the day greens as they are.
+ Solving the limit set color problem
+ Easy and cheap to do

- seems weird to have two colors for the same denom.

Thoughts?

Hot pink value chip would be awesome with the Flamingos! And how you’re able get these beautiful women to play poker (let alone mixed game limit poker) is beyond me. Please teach me your ways. The women I know couldn’t possibly care any less about poker.

I never looked at it from a scientific point of view but here goes:
Young female police officers are on average pretty good in shape and thus tend to be attractive.
I like to think I established my game at my station as a fun monthly event where the rookies can mix with the veterans in a social setting and only a few of the newer officers get an invite (I don't go by attractiveness though, you gotta be fun to be around)
Some of the ladies discover that they like poker as well and stay on the list.
The blurry girl shown in the pics above has been a regular for 5 years now even though she changed stations a few years ago.

Oh and thank you for your thoughts on the chips as well. ;)

Inviting beautiful women to any social occasion, even if they 're prettier than your woman, is the same kind of vanity as inviting poker players better than you to a poker game.
Self-destructive, but still yields some pride, out of grandeur illusion.
Those born under the sign of Leo suffer the most from it.
:)
