Hi there,
I happen to run into the "Secret Agent" set at https://www.bbopokertables.com/product/secret-agent-poker-chipset. This seems a new set from BBO poker because when I was checking their site earlier last year I did not see this from my memory. I kinda like the color schema and think the rainbow 10,000 chip can serve as buyin chip or bounty chip. Does anyone here have any experience dealing with ceramics from BBO before? I wonder how is the quality since I am currently looking for my upgrade set from milanos.

Also the pictures they provide does not seem to cover all the denominations from the selection on the page. Plus there is no 25cents in the selections but there are chips from the picture with 25cents label. At this point, I am a bit confused.. If any one knows anything, please share. Appreciate!

Cheers

BR PRO provides an excellent ceramic product and the customer service to back it up. Purchase from them with confidence!

Evaluating samples prior to a large purchase is never a bad idea, regardless of what company or product you are considering.

That $1k color wheel is bad ass! The inlay design and fact that they remind me of Dice chips makes it a no for me... @Ronoh someone dun copied your "host the colors" $100 brother!!

Thanks I ordered a few sample sets from BR Pro including valentino, tiki king and wicked spades, waiting for them. I have a sample set of Nevada jacks but my guests think the pattern on them are too complicated to see the denom from a glance. Is there a chip set you recommend in particular?

Indeed. I love that color wheel! You are right, the inlay design and the spades pattern is a bit simple side, not as interesting as other ceramics designs. Is there a set you recommend?

They seem like fine starter chips but good Lord the fact that they only got the frac denom right is tilting as hell

“100$” lol
I was going to mention that but guessing these are made in the UK? Their currency symbol is usually after the denom. Also the font used on the $ symbol is very close to the 5... some text would also help, like "Secret Agent" "Speakeasy" just something would have been nice.

These are by BBO, the cheap poker table company, not BRPro.

Okay, then we'll consider this one a free plug for BR PRO. Go check them out, @SimpleFish ! And Sun-Fly, too. They are Vendor sponsors of the forum.

BBO must outsource their designs to some other ceramic manufacturer. Get samples before making a big decision. Hopefully they use someone reputable.

Technically, I think Ronoh took his flag from @Ben...

...which accurately covers the ROY G BIV color spectrum in the correct order.

Personally, I am into fully custom ceramics, because they would be unique to you, and provide maximum security for your games and sentimental value, too. But I realize that brings a higher price point, so you'll need to take that into account.

Definitely order a sample set from BBO if you're interested in their design. Also order a sample set from BRPro if you see any designs of theirs that catch your eye, so that you can compare not only the graphic designs but the chip quality and the way they feel.

Contact BBO and see if they or their supplier can produce chips with custom artwork. Then ask if they can do semi-customs, where they could modify their own Secret Agent design to use colors and denomination text that you specify (so that you can get a 25c chip, and maybe also have them fix the dollar denominations to read "$1" instead of "1$". I'm betting their answer is "no" but it never hurts to ask.

FWIW BRPro can do both full custom artwork as well as semi-custom variations on their own stock designs.

Am I the only one who noticed that they are selling ceramic chips, selling them in small quantities (instead of like PCF group buys where a hundred thousand is certainly attainable) and only selling it for 50 cents a chip? That fact alone makes me think the quality of these chips line right up with scrolls :vomit:

Ceramic chips, even custom ceramics are fairly affordable. As always, get samples - but a stack of 10 samples at $5-$10 (after shipping) is the best deal you will ever get on an insurance policy.

I don’t remember who’s came first but I feel like both were on order at the same time and that Ben hadn’t posted any mock-ups... just remember finding out about his while chatting with him at one meetup or another (think it was a S@P) :D

Obviously, great winning minds think alike.

I started out with the Monte Carlo chip set the found the BBO chips, I wanted something different from the usual chips so I went with the “mint” set. I’m really pleased with the feel & quality.

I was interested in this set recently. I noticed on their website that none of their photos included the 500 or 1k denominations. I reached out to support and they supplied me with these pictures... I'll share them in case anybody is interested.

I was a little disappointed in how similar the colors are between the 25 and 500 chips.

Thank you so much! I do not like the color for 500 and 1000 so I will stay away from them.. Do you still plan to order a set of these? I think for cash game, these may be fine since other chips seems good from the website.. Also I noticed the denom here is good that $ sign is ahead of numbers, unlike the picture on their site displays..

A couple of things I find annoying about those chips is that the $ should precede the numeric value; not follow it. Plus, the $ is as large as the numeric values. The $ or ¢ should be a noticeably smaller font.

Those characteristics make the 1 look more like "IS" to me. Plus, the first thing I think of when looking at the 10 is "IOS".

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that the photos from support do have the $ sign in front. This looks much better. I agree that the $ after the denomination just looks unnatural.

To answer your question: No, I'm not ordering these (btw ended up going with a set of Majestics from Apache). I went away from the Secret Agents because I was looking for a tournament set and...
  1. Wasn't a fan of the brown color in the 1000 chip
  2. Feel the colors between 25 and 500 are too similar
  3. There isn't a 5000 denomination
These could work as a cash set. But I noticed that their website doesn't list the 0.25 chip when selecting your chip breakdown (maybe that's just an error).

I don't see how these graphics are supposed to convey "secret agent". It's just a tuxedo shirt.

My whole BBO chip set that I put together. I probably went overboard but I’m still new to this & wasn’t quite sure of quantities I might need.
White-$1
Light blue-$.25
Red-$5

I would request samples. Looking on their website, they seem to specialize in ceramics (great chips) and some the better plastics and 13.5g chips. In fact, I only see one confirmed lousy chip for sale on their site with a second I suspect isn‘t up-to-snuff. But the rest are all acceptable to fantastic chips—a good sign this retailer prefers to sell quality because their inventory is notably lacking in confirmed crappy chips.

Wow, do you have more pictures!? or how do they feel? I am also curious how did you end up getting the Light blue ones since the website did not provide options. Thanks! I did not know they provide BBO dealer buttons XD
