Forgot the update pics...oops... Made final table, got knocked out at 6th.

Played way too nitty before break 1, got cooler-ed in a massive pot right before final table. Only had 12BB going to the final table. Doubled up twice, then wasnt getting much for a while.
Ended up shoving my last 6.5BB with an open ended straight on the flop against a really passive regular hoping to take down the pot right there for some more breathing room, but he snap calls with KK and I miss my outs. He never raised preflop, never gave any indication of strength at all, so it was a big surprise to me. Probably a huge donk shove on my part, but at 6.5BBs, it seemed like the right thing to do.

Im a new player if only 3 months of play. Still trying to figure out tournaments and how to play better, but free poker isnt the best place for practice unless it's for practice for reading people and such. People do unorthodox things since there is only bar tabs and a tiny bit of cash for top 3.

Hoping to get to meet people on here as time goes on so I can learn from people way better than I and improve my game enough to play at the casino for the first time.

HSI’s were back in action last night for another $1/$1 NLH session. Bought in for a $100 and doubled up on the very first hand! Felted two more people on the second hand after flopping the nut straight. Pic is from about 90 minutes in...up about $750. Eventually cashed out up about $1100 but my helper put my stack away before I could snap a pic of it.

20k starting stacks on the Sunday bar tournament. I asked the guy who is dealing to look at my hands and evaluate my decision making and look for physical tells. I asked if the table is cool with that and they all didnt care.

RIP playing against him ever again, but I need the information about myself and how I play to improve. I dont have a coach, I dont have anyone into poker in my friend circle that knows what to look for, so this will hopefully help me learn alot today. I need to know where my leaks are and how to improve

On full tilt today, 3rd out. Caught in a bluff in a missed draw, coolered in 2 huge pots, folded against a bluff that cost me alot, and got rivered to knock me out.

Hopefully the cash game goes better. Today is not my day, I played awful.

Update, cash game was heartbreaking. Was up around 2x my buy in and got rivered. Opponent called a 4 bet with J4o and I have QQ. I Flop trips and he just calls everything and even raises the turn. He ends up getting a Broadway straight on the river. He rivers me again with a flush draw with a similar hand an hour so later after I buy back in the second time. I buy in again, and I get QQ again but run into AA....from the same f-ing guy.....

Only lost around 80, but all that happening yesterday left an awful taste in my mouth. I never got a single bluff or semi bluff through all day yesterday. Guess this is what downswings feel like in poker.

Hang in there. It will swing back in your direction eventually.

Definitely a needed gut check to my ego i think.

I'm still net positive in total earnings in my cash games, but getting kicked in the balls again and again all day just hurt my soul. Getting sucked out of the tournament, the secondary tournament, and that cash game wore my patience thin.

The lady that was tilting me yesterday at the tournament got KK 3 times in that event and made top 2. Best pair I made all that event was kings with a 6 kicker. An interesting experience learning to play on heavy tilt all day and learning to cope, breathe and move on. All in all, i learned alot yesterday, and hopefully that experience helps me in the future.

Thank you all for letting me bitch, I needed an outlet to let out my frustration before I could calm downed process everything today from an objective standpoint.

I always try to think, please keep calling 4bets with J4o, in the longrun you want those players on the same table. Just stay focused and keep your game up.

Your reaction reminds me of a family member of mine. She used to play a LOT of cash poker. When we first started playing together she would whup my butt. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME... But lately I have been playing a lot more than she has, and I'm finally getting a read on her. The last two weekends we played some games together and I took her for all she had. I could see that same look in her eyes that you describe feeling. I honestly felt bad for her, she seemed so drained of life over the losses. She takes poker very seriously, and me not so much. But I know good and well that she is going to come back and put some more beatings on me at some point. Just as you will to your opponents too.

Without getting too into the details and airing out dirty laundry, poker definitely is the reason I'm still here today, so it has a weird relationship with me in my life currently.

It's the only thing that actually pulled me out of a really dark place in my life. I started taking care of my health again (which is why I just had my surgery), started reading again, applied to college so I can use my GI Bill, stopped smoking cigarettes, stopped my spiral of alcoholism on its own (I was drinking 6 days a week minimum), and has brought back my confidence and really has breathed life into me again to be honest.

Since poker is a game about life too, and what it has been doing so far for me, it is more than just a game that I enjoy immensely. I tend to take it seriously and is almost as a reflection of how I am doing personally. I kinda owe it to myself and the game to research it and learn as much as possible at this point. I get excited when I get a new book now, where as before I hated reading and had (and still kinda do) have issues reading and retaining info from my head injuries. Since I started playing, my ability to retain information has been increasing, my situational awareness has improved significantly, I'm starting to become a little more introspective and honest with myself, and I have been a lot more motivated to get up and "get out of bed" as you will.

So when I make mistakes, I beat myself up a little and try to figure out where my leaks are, because it wont only just fix my poker game, it bleeds into my personal life too. Everyone in poker and life takes bad beats, and learning how to deal with them in poker is helping me do it in real life and vice versa. When I start to make mistakes, generally it is either out of ignorance from my inexperience, or something in my life is bothering me more than I thought before and it compounds the frustration that normally isnt that big of a deal. When I realize that my reaction to stress or whatever happened is unreasonable (more than just a little frustration that leaves soon after a bad beat or whatever) then I can isolate the issue thats making me react that way and deal with it. Then the leak gets fixed when I identify the issue, deal with it, and I start to do a little better again.

So I guess I get a little too invested in it based on the role the game plays in my life at the moment. As I get better at poker and fix the real life leaks I have, the game will become more and more of a hobby for me and I will be able to relax a little more as time goes on. As it stands now, poker saved my life and I owe it to myself to keep pursuing improvement.

Cashing out my first 1/2 game ive played ever!

Bought in at 200, was up to 1076, cashed at 870. Made a donk call for $75 and a C bet that took me down alot.

My jitters are gone, I'm comfortable with 1/2 now. The game was raising to $10-$20 on average preflop with most hands I was in. Played my first bomb pots ever. Had a blast today. Lots of straddles, lots of action, my heart was pumping the whole time.

nothing super special by thread standards, but with poker rooms reopening, as a newly 21 year old, can finally go play some cards.
Gotta say, Washington 2-20 spread limit sure is interesting, but I ain’t complaining at all!

Won a biggie three ways for piles - I was in for $1k effective AK vs JJ vs AQ suited. $25 straddle - AK makes it $70 JJ makes it $225 im in position and stuck so I flat - :)

Flop is KJ9 two diamonds
AK jams it in JJ snaps - I cant really get a better flop for my range here so I call , brick turn , bink river for nutty flushy - the pocket Jiggities got unlucky there but glad we scooped. :)
