Second cash set- Mets inspired (1 Viewer)

Dang, that's pretty hot!

Hmmm...I definitely don't like a green $20 chip as the primary $20 - too many people associate green w/$25 dollars - and I definitely have reservations about using a charcoal $20 next to a black $100 chip.

How about switching the 25¢ and $20 base colors? Or making the quarter I mocked up as the $20?

Not since the days of Marvelous Marv Throneberry have I seen "Mets" and "inspired" in the same sentence!

Playing around a bit - I think some form of blue and orange should be included in each chip, and at the same time the set is screaming to add black as a base color in one of the main 25¢ - $20 chips to help differentiate it.

White $1 (resembling their pinstripe home jersey), orange $5 and black $20:

The second one really kicks ass.

When I placed my order in for my first cash set I automatically knew what concept I wanted for my second cash set. This won't happen anytime soon, maybe a year out, but since spring training is only two months away I figured I'd pick at your brains. The blue chip is carried over from the first mockup from my first set, which was inspired by the Mets. So it was only natural to make a Mets themed set (y)...

As far as using their images, where/who can I e-mail as far as legal consent? (like what stocky did for his Game of Thrones set.) I went on their website to search for the legal stuff but couldn't find anything.

That's funny. I literally thought about starting to make mock-ups for either another cash set or a tourney set but Cubs/Wrigley Field themed...

Way back when I was initially thinking about doing a Cubs theme for the cash set I just got, I emailed MLB and the Cubs to get approval. Probably sent 1/2 a dozen emails and never got a reply. I have a feeling their licensing people don't give a sh*t about spending time on some dude wanting to user their marks/logos on his personal poker chips and they spend their time on bigger licensing deals but I could be wrong and/or things could have changed by now...this was like 5-6 years ago. Definitely post if you get approval and I'll start reaching out to the Cubbies. :)

And consent is a go! Will be working on mockups soon.

Missed this before posting. That's awesome!! You just emailed the Mets through their web site? ...and they got back to you the same day? Totally different experience than I had lol. Congrats!

I called their customer service. Went through MLB, got redirected to the Mets customer service and got the ok. As long as it's not for promotional/selling purposes, it's all good.

The great thing about this set is that if you change you mind, you can always buy labels and change it up :D

Sweet. Thanks for the info! Do they send you something in writing b/c at the time, the person I was working with wouldn't put the Cubs logo on my chips without the consent in writing...

Not really. I just told them that I'm an avid Mets fan, been so for so and so years, it's for my private home game, not for public resale, etc. They were fine with it. If you can't reach them through e-mail, try giving them a call.

I was actually curious about this as well. It seems like some colors in the current CPC sample set don't exactly match older custom sets (from pictures). It's hard to believe the current blue is the same shade as older custom sets but I am comparing my CPC samples to online pictures so it's not a perfect comparison. I don't have any custom sample sets with standard blue in it to compare.

Here's the pictures I took in better lighting. They're definitely different shades.

how about camo, they were these as often as St Pattys day jerseys

To my eyes, the DG Tiger is closest to Mets orange, but I can see why some would want to go w/DG Peach. Arc Yellow is far off, IMO.

What I'm actually more curious about, though, is the blue. Mets blue appears closer to Blurple or Retro Blue. Have you matched the blue samples against the jersey?

Blurple and Retro blue were too dark for the blue that they use. Back when the old chiptool had TRK/BCC options they had bright blue colors. For comparison:

Those look great! I like the top row a little more. The only thing I might take a look at is the blue spot on the black (it might be too dark in real life). Maybe use the gray base here instead of black?

I have to avoid this thread altogether, lest my wife sees those Bronco mock-ups and forces me to buy a set. She's a huge Bronco fan -- used to date the GM and travel with the team to away games during the early Elway era, before I rescued her from Colorado.

It's inevitable man. Once you see someone mocking up a set, it sucks you in. I see a Broncos set in your future :D

Like so? I actually like the charcoal base more. Steve cleaned up the inlay.

That looks awesome Steve! Can you reverse the colors on the words to see how that looks?

I like how the inlays are progressing, IMHO the first cut with the orange border had a little too much orange was once see it on the chip. I like the simpler ones with Mr. Met with the glove. Adding the smaller NYC skyline in the back may make the graphic a little difficult to see at the true size (maybe outline Mr. Met in white?). Or maybe make the skyline bigger (almost the size of where the orange circle with the text was on the original version) but fade the blue a bit so it doesn't overpower the chip? The pinstripe one is also a nice touch.
