Hello everyone, :cool

It’s been a while since I’ve been active here, mainly due to a heavy workload (I’m self-employed), and I had also stepped away from home poker games for some time. Recently, a great poker night with friends did me a lot of good and reignited my interest in poker chips :bigbucks:.

After completing a first project for my father (the Tina ceramic chips I previously shared here), I decided to revive a personal project I had put aside. I’ve always had a soft spot for “Sands” chips, without really knowing why, and the idea was to take inspiration from them to create a personalized chip set under my name: “Goze”.

As a 2D/3D graphic designer, I fully vectorized a Sands chip series in Illustrator, including the logo, aiming to stay as close as possible to the originals while allowing myself some creative freedom. I mixed several 1970s series (including some Baccarat chips), which explains the variations in inlay shapes and edge spot colors.

The chips are 43 mm with a 25 mm inlay. The “Goze” lettering keeps the Sands graphic spirit but with a more modern touch. I’ve also worked on an initial preview of the mold, which is already well defined.

Next steps will be a colored version with both a tournament set and a cash game set. And yes, I’m fully aware of the budget involved if the mold is to be manufactured by Tina.

Looking forward to your feedback :)

Thank you very much for the follow-up, my Belgian friend — here’s what comes next after a lot of hard work.

Hello everyone,
I’ve put a lot of work into this project that is very close to my heart. In my opinion, the challenge of preserving the “Sands” mold was successful, especially with the integration of my tag. The work I had done beforehand helped me a lot and allowed me to move forward by adding a modern, contemporary, and artistic touch.

I then wanted to introduce a new concept and a small nod to gangsters—the casino management mafia—but also to something that shaped my cinematic childhood. So I created 8 characters as references to friends, since we always play with a maximum of 8 players.

I worked on a complete set for both cash games and tournaments, making sure there was a coherent link between the two sets. I’m particularly fond of flashy chips. So here I present the two “Gangsta” sets. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

Everything was fully vectorized in RGB for on-screen presentation. I’ll then do a BAT test (Bon à tirer—print approval), sending the layout to print at full size and adjusting details if some turn out to be too small or invisible.

I just noticed a small mistake after posting: the second mafioso in gray has K-A cards, whereas he should have J-A 😄 — it will be corrected.
