When I placed my order in for my first cash set I automatically knew what concept I wanted for my second cash set. This won't happen anytime soon, maybe a year out, but since spring training is only two months away I figured I'd pick at your brains. The blue chip is carried over from the first mockup from my first set, which was inspired by the Mets. So it was only natural to make a Mets themed set (y). The spots and patterns is what is getting at me, I don't want repeating spots from my first cash set, except for the blue 1/2 pie, that's a must keep. The Mets rock(ed) these colors:

Orange
Blue
White
Kelly Green (spring training)
Grey
Charcoal
Black

This is what I've thought of this far. Denoms will be 25¢, $1, $5 and $20, with an optional $100.

As far as using their images, where/who can I e-mail as far as legal consent? (like what stocky did for his Game of Thrones set.) I went on their website to search for the legal stuff but couldn't find anything.

I jave a feeling you will be ok with whatever images as you arent selling or marketing these?

Try any of the contact emails they have and keep sending until you get some type of reply.

Took me only 2 emails to get a reply from GRRM

Whatever you do, I feel like you have to either buy 100 total chips or go with level 1 spots. If you truly making a Mets inspired set you have to be extremely cheap because the Wilpons are probably the cheapest owners in baseball.

Best comment ever. Gotta love the Coupons! I bet they were really struggling with their string purse when they re-signed Cespedes lol.

No, that honor goes to the Dolans of my Cleveland Indians

Definitely go with the DG Arc Yellow instead of the DG Peach though if trying to use Mets colors. It's much closer.

Will follow with great interest, I've tried mocking up a Met's set a bunch of times, could never seem to get a good combination of spots/colors for a full set. Love the quarter pie colors for the quarter.

I don't have a jersey but I've checked my color samples against a few t-shirts, banners and a hat. I'd say either DG tiger or DG peach are the closest match. Except for the orange stitching on my hat, that was actually closest to orange.

Here are some comparisons

DG Peach and DG Tiger are definitely closer than DG Arc Yellow.

@David Spragg, do molds have an effect in colors, or is it just the case of comparing an older color sample set against the current one? I noticed how some colors are lighter/darker against both sets. it also could be the lighting.

I stand corrected. Good thing you have a jersey and a sample set and not just listening to jackasses like me online haha :)

I was actually curious about this as well. It seems like some colors in the current CPC sample set don't exactly match older custom sets (from pictures). It's hard to believe the current blue is the same shade as older custom sets but I am comparing my CPC samples to online pictures so it's not a perfect comparison. I don't have any custom sample sets with standard blue in it to compare.

You will have to wonder if it's the "custom chip curse" or if it's because they are Mets inspired that you'll never win with these. :):):):):)

Really wish there was a dislike option as it would get some mixed results I'm sure but it's just in fun.

Here are some comparisons

To my eyes, the DG Tiger is closest to Mets orange, but I can see why some would want to go w/DG Peach. Arc Yellow is far off, IMO.

What I'm actually more curious about, though, is the blue. Mets blue appears closer to Blurple or Retro Blue. Have you matched the blue samples against the jersey?

It'll probably be both lol.

Again, it could have been the lighting, since I was in my room and the lighting is dim. I'll try and take pictures in better lighting when I get home. The blues are definitely darker than the Mets blue though, which is why the next color CPC releases should be DG/Bright Blue :D

Yeah I have an email into CPC inquiring about the standard blue because to me it looks darker than it used to be.

I've thought of a quarter pie theme using Detroit sports teams. There are to many common red/blue colors. Couldn't make it work.

B mold. B. & B. Sports Den.......

Are the charcoal and green chips meant to be two different options for the same denom, or different denoms?

A few thoughts on the mocks in post 23
  • The $1 and charcoal $20's are perfect
  • The green $20/hundo is perfect, even though it matches the spot pattern of the charcoal. I'd have at least a barrel of these produced for collection/promotional purposes, and would create additional quantities for keepers as NCV's. They could then be used as secondary $20's for special occasions, or as actual hundos...or even as nickles if you needed to go microstakes.
  • I'd switch the white spot on the frac to peach. My dislike of tri-colored quarter pies aside, having a white quarter-pie spot on the frac next to white ones where the white is divided in quarters leaves a lot of white on chips mixed in the same pot.
  • Not sold on the 312 spots on the fiver. I think the colors are okay...just not sure I like that spot pattern in the lineup. Can't say anything's technically or practically "wrong" with it, though...just personal preference.

Two different options for the $20

Hmmm...I definitely don't like a green $20 chip as the primary $20 - too many people associate green w/$25 dollars - and I definitely have reservations about using a charcoal $20 next to a black $100 chip.
