I have the motor pictured below. The center post (that is flat on one side) turns. How do I attach a nut/bolt combo to that center post? I guess there is some sort of specific attachment that I need. What is it called? Thank you.

You need a d shaft coupler what ever size that is. I'm just guessing 1/4" looking at the photo.

Yep “D” shaft is the key search term. “Coupler” or “collet” or “set screw collar” may be helpful too... so what are you trying to do?

So I'm trying to build an automatic tumbler for my Ultrasonic. I have about 2000 more chips to clean and I'm tired of spinning the salad thingy by hand.

Edit: By the way @Shaggy , I could use more Cali Belle $1's for my Sundance frac. :)

Yes, that looks like it will connect to the motor. What is going on the other side?

The idea is too have a 6" (in length) bolt attach to the motor, which would be secured on the opposite end with a wing nut. So now it looks like I need to grab some sort of attachment that is 6 mm on one end and will fit a 1/4" bolt on the other end.... I think.

Probably best to stick with Metric OR Imperial on both sides. Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for frustration.

1/4"=6.35mm so, you should be able to use a piece of 1/4 all tread rod, file it down just slightly to go in the hole. Also file a flat spot on it for the set screw to seat on.

It's probably best if I didn't attempt this.
This is one of those classic situations where by the time you solve your problem, the problem would be long gone if done the original way lol

Took me a while to log back in. Yeah, these seem like good options... specifically that adapter coupling.

I had a feeling this was for automating a salad spinner for ultrasonic cleaning. I gave some thought myself when I was cleaning my Horseshoe Clubs with Simple Green and needed to keep them in the bath for a half hour.

Sorry, no Cali Bells available currently. :)
