Premier League $@!& talking thread (11 Viewers)

Yes, it's the linesman's call, and he blew it. Terry was a full two feet offsides, and there shouldn't have been 8 minutes of stoppage time in the first place.

Yes he was offside, but you can't be mad at the head ref for it and I didn't watch the game, but they gave 7 minutes and Everton celebrated for longer than a minute so there most certainly should have be 8 minutes of stoppage time.

That's assuming the initial 7 minutes was the right amount of stoppage time.

I'm not going to claim for sure about that(didn't see the whole game) but a 3 minute injury stoppage, a 30 second injury stoppage, 5 goals, and 4 substitutions sounds like 7 minutes to me.

International Break... Sadness... So how about some fun? I was cruising TSG mugshots, and found a player doing something naughty..

Give up? Even more bad news for Chelsea after the CL defeat yesterday!

Good couple of questions.

Not overly enthused with the football being played under LVG. It has been a very bland and obviously results haven't been great. Will be a shame to be out of the Champions League again next season.

Mourinho, I have to say I wasn't excited by the news all the while Pep was available in the summer, however, as he has now confirmed he is going to City, we cannot get Mourinho in soon enough!

I'm not sure if ManU fans will be happy this time next year if Mourinho takes over.

One criticism of LvG is that his team doesn't play the ManU way and it is not good to watch. Mourinho sets his teams up defensively to play on the counter so I'm not sure if this will please fans wanting something different.

Also SAF knew when to retire as the whole squad needed an overhaul and is still not in great shape after all the money spent so far.

And, yes, as a Newcastle fan, I would take Mourinho for the rest of the season to see if we can escape (the Newcastle board should bring him in as either the new coach or as a consultant with a massive bonus in if he avoids relegation)

No way do you bring in the Special One for a relegation fight. That is not his thing. For that you need a Pulis, or 'Arry in his pomp. Someone who knows that the only way he keeps the job is if the team stays in the Prem.

That's not really true though, is it... Look at his time in Madrid. Won the league with a record number of points and over 100 goals. Granted the players there are a hell of a lot better but Madrid were not exactly defensive. And SAF hardly played all out attacking football. We played on the counter more often than not, the difference being the freedom given to the players and the fact that he wanted his players to take risks, which is probably where he differs to other managers who are risk averse in many ways.

However, look at the league today, who would you say was a truly attacking team? I think Mourinho would be a good fit. He'd boil the piss of rival teams and fans. He'd ship out the rest of the crap that resides in this squad and hopefully bring some trophies back.

I don't see him as a long term manager, but certainly someone who could win something for us again.

Mourinho's teams succeed or fail on the quality of his defensive midfielder. The first and best was Makelele. Last season it was Matic who has not performed this year.

I might take Pulis in a relegation fight but not that dodgy secondhand car dealer 'Arry. What Newcastle need is someone to organise and tighten the defence. Mourinho/Rodgers/Benitez would enhance their reputations if they saved NUFC and moved to other things next season but no way would they work for Ashley - who would???

How about Rafa Benitez?

Never mind didn't read the whole post :-) He apparently wants to return to the premier league.

Well, not Redknapp NOW, but the Redknapp that was with Portsmouth could save us. Sadly, I think it is a foregone conclusion that we are taking the drop. Typical, with even LARGER sums coming via TV deals, NUFC have managed to miss out on THAT, too.

I should have chosen to be a Hammers fan, back when. At least I could listen to Maiden when they hit a purple patch.

NUFC paying the price for underinvestment in the squad in the last 8 years. Ashley has spent in the last 2 windows but its too little too late. The chickens are now coming home to roost!!

The Toon Army welcomes Rafa the Gaffer
I'm still not sure whether we will stay up but now we might have a fighting chance!

And I can't wait to hear the crowd noise when he walks out for his first home match next weekend (the home derby against Sunderland)

I'm fairly certain you'll be fine. The father-in-law is a Newcastle fan and so I kind of hope you do stay up, if only for the rivalry of when you hold us to a draw.

Sam Wallace might win the weekend with "No Chompion's League for Costa next season."

I'm a huge Spurs supporter, but disappointed to see how they behaved against Chelsea. The match was theirs to win and they blew it. Really shocked at how they acted towards the end.

Fair play to Leicester. Would have liked Spurs to win it, personally. Just because I know too many gobby Arsenal fans. However, pleased for Leicester.

Still waiting to find out if I have cup final tickets, but not looking good. We have been allocated 28k seats at Wembley, as have Palace, but we have 55k season ticket holders compared with 17k at Palace. Palace have less seats at Selhurst than seats available to them at Wembley. So all Palace fans will get a ticket, and a lot of United fans will be unhappy.

It's a 90k seater stadium, more seats go to corporates than fans. It's disgusting.

Man U fan here as well and this statement couldn't have been better said. So refreshing to see this after having talks with friends and family members who tell me how bad Man U has gotten. Here's to us winning the FA cup final this year!
