Flush
And Newcastle almost strike first just before halftime. Mbemba's header is over the bar.
And Liverpool incorrectly has a goal disallowed for offsides.
Congrats on the win! I thought your team played great. We missed a couple of golden opportunities but that happens from time to time. Still don't know how Benteke kicked it over the bar from that close
Anyway, this should be no surprise to anyone, but Sturridge is injured yet again. It's so frustrating as a fan (I'm sure he's even more frustrated) because he is so talented, but he just hasn't been able to stay on the pitch the last two years.
Good grief. He even commented about the ball boys taking long to get balls back to the Chelsea players on throw-ins and such. Called it a "disgrace to the Premier League". Put the blame on everybody but yourself and your crappy underachieving team, Jose. Go right ahead.
Chelsea have blamed ballboys for that in the past - I think it was a couple of years ago at Swansea (or Cardiff), when Hazard kicked a ballboy for being too slow. He was the chairman's son but stupidly had tweeted that he was going to delay the game beforehand!
So, they sacked Jose... I know they're in (very) poor form, but sacking a manager the same calendar year that he won the league is astounding to me. It's been 207 says since the last day of last season. (even though they clinched on May 3rd with three games to play..) I'm no fan of his or his team, and the turmoil has been fun to watch. They gave him a FOUR YEAR extension just a few months ago during the summer.... Nonetheless, paying him 40m to go away seems crazy.
I know Premier League teams go through managers like water....but damn.
Am trying to think of a faster fall from first to worst, in ANY sport, with so little change in personnel. So far I've got nothing.
Happy trails, Jose. Wonder where he'll land.
Two things:
Because Boxing Day fell on a Saturday this year, I feel cheated out of my normal Boxing day excitement.
@Toonexile - What a cruel way to drop into the relegation zone.... They had defended so well. A point apiece seemed like a fair result.
