Does everyone with a set of WTH&C’s believe they’re made of gold? (1 Viewer)

Honestly. While I love my 1200 WTHC’s I simply can’t add to it at 8 fucking dollars per chip. I can’t believe anyone is paying that, are they?id love to enlarge my set but damn dude. They’re not worth that! That’s why they’re sitting on eBay forever. I’m not sure I’d pay 3$.

You’ll find all kind of Scrub Donkeys out there. Can’t even cash the chips in for face value!

On the plus side you likely paid $1400 for your set and can sell it for $3k+

Some people pay it; so the price goes up. You can't get them anymore, so with a finite amount out there, the price could be whatever 1 person is willing to pay. I personally don't think they are worth that. Same with other chips like BTP, Giraffes, etc. They are great and I'd love them, but not at their crazy per-chip prices.

They show up here on PCF in the classifieds every once in a while...but nowhere near $8 per.
The sellers on eBay that ask $8 just post it and wait...and they’re bought by those who are impatient enough that they’re willing to pay for it.

Not sure I have seen these sell for $3 in the 2 years we have been chipping... recently I herd of a set for $3.75 per chip. I think run of the mill now is between $3.50 and $4 a chip... definitely depends on which denoms you are hunting.

Doesn't really matter what one is willing to pay if 10 other people are hunting the same chips and willing to pay more. It is always your choice at the end of the day, spend 2 years hoping someone will list some for less than the going rate or pony up and lay down the money to get yourself playable. At the end of the day unless GPI reopened the home market I believe it is safe to say the values will not be going back down. These are in very high demand all of the time, lots of competition in that particular market means sellers are going to get paid unfortunately!!

Best of luck woth your hunt and welcome to the forum @RivieraDanny

Seems like the $8/chip prices are on eBay and for small lots of only 10-20 chips. They are targeting people who need to finish off a rack or have just a few missing chips from their collection.

I haven’t seen too many sets for sale here recently but the ones I did see I think were around $4/chip depending on the size of the set.

When I acquired my set about a year ago the going rate was about $3.50ea on PCF give or take. And even that took some work. Price seems to have gone up since. Obviously you can wait longer and deals will pop up for less, or you can be impulsive and buy some of the chips that have been sitting on eBay for months for more money. These are no longer in production and are not sold in retail. Also, some chipsets get lost in attics or thrown out or destroyed so the number out there will decrease over time. It is setting in that Paulsons will not be available at retail again.

As always, just because someone is asking a price for something it doesn't mean that is what it is worth. Especially when it comes to eBay. What happens on eBay in particular is that people research past sales and see that a single chip sold for $8 so they think a barrel is worth $160 or their set is worth $8000.

The WTHC $5K’s are only made out of silver . . . It’s the CDM $200’s that are made out of gold. :ROFLMAO:

I quit that rabbit hunt!! I still glance out there but if you set your expectations low you’ll be disappointed far less!! I still have a very playable set so for 7or 8, well even 3 or 4 they can bite me. Lol

Whats the breakdown of your set? I would think 1,200 chips would be enough for quite a few players.

Your pm must have gotten lost with the usps! But save yourself some time they will reside with me as long as I’m upright!! Lol. That’s too much for them anyway!

Just need Paulson to start making them again then back to good ole $2/chip lol

Hard to believe but my first real set of chips was back when these were still widely available. Picked up a 1,000 chip set at about $1.25 a chip. Later sold for $3.25 a chip. Would love them back again but not at today’s prices. Great, great chips!
