The Evolution of my Hot Stamp Set – A cautionary tale (2 Viewers)

I'm sure many of you have had a conversation like this...

Wife: "You got a package in the mail today from someplace called Spinetti's - it's sitting on the counter."
Me: "Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel" (like a little girl)
Wife: "More poker chips I assume?"
Me: "Come see how pretty they are!"

Wife: "Yes, very nice..." (said with a resigned sigh)
Me: "But look how great they fit with the rest of the set."

Wife: "But only two chips? What good are just two chips?"
Me: "Well, now I only need to find 18 more."
Wife: silent
Me: "Cause these aren't that common I'm going to have to pick them up a chip or two at a time."
Wife: "I thought you didn't even need those pink ones since you don't play blackjack?"
Me: "WHAT?... LA LA LA LA... I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE AWESOMENESS OF THESE CHIPS!!!!"

Anyhoo... looking for 18 more Headquarters Casino snappers if anyone has a chip or two laying around.

I avoid those conversations completely by having my chips (and other addictions) shipped to my work. My wife knows that I have stuff sent there and will make comments about me sneaking stuff into the basement after she goes to sleep, but it is much easier than trying to explain 1200+ custom chips that need to be signed for!

Wife: "Have you been keeping a mistress in an apartment downtown?"
Me: "Actually, I've been using that address for shipping chips. I got the idea on PCF."

Hi all... thought I'd post a little pr0n with the latest update to my mixed casino hotstamp set. You know... just in case you've been laying awake nights wondering what was up with it.

First... after some slow chip-by-chip buying, I've finally got a respectable stack of those hotstamp snappers. Will they see much felt time? Nope. Are they pretty as heck? Yep.

Then, @RowdyRawhide posted some lovely peach Par-a-Dice roulette 5's for sale. They look like great nickels to me. You know, just in case I ever need nickels. Do I need nickels? Nope. Are they pretty as heck? Yep.

Then after lusting at several chips in the big frac clear out that @liftapint had a couple of months ago, I started to fall out of love with the off-white Virgin River quarters. I mean, they're great and all, and I love them with the set, but I'm just not IN love with them. It's not them - it's me - I'm a fickle little butterfly. So I dropped my first (of probably several future) major payment to Spinettis for these wonderful pink Pioneer Club quarters. Clearly I have a thing for pink chips that I need to acknowledge. So ya, now I'm totes in love with these chips. Foeva...... probably.....

Finally... and now this is just goofy... I pulled a couple of $500 chips off eBay. They're hotstamps, the spot progression and colors work and I couldn't help myself. I mean seriously... the hundo's will never see action - these are just for show. But I know the PCF is a safe place so I don't need to try to justify my purchase of more chips here.

So this is where the set stands now. Quite a bit of pink... and I'm completely happy with that. We play 25¢/50¢ so the main chips on the table are pink, blue and red - they really work together. Poker night is tomorrow... Great chips - great guys - great times!

Thanks again PCF for all the great info, member support and community. No way I would have a chip set like this without you.

Yep... I've hosted 1 cash game, and the largest denom in use was the $1.

...so my second cash set had $500s in it - just in case.

I wisened up with third cash set, and capped it at $100s.

Beautiful sets are their own reward.

I like the roulettes as nickles. I very much like the substitution of pink quarters for the light gray ones! But now they clash with your snappers, which is a great reason to send those snappers back to the blackjack table.
Very cool set!

But they're PINK! And I promise never to use them with the quarters - just the red $5's.... which they go awesome with.

BTW, I don't know if you need any spares, but I have a couple of minty claim stake $1's, if you have anything interesting to trade.

Sweet! I'm not sure I have much to offer in trade but PM on the way...

That is truly an "evolution" of a set if I ever saw one. Great job. And FYI, I was looking at the rack of Desert Oasis twentys as well as Colter Ripton's Sundance West Hundos when you ended up buying them. I did get other hotstamped 25's and 100's but yours are nicer. I have put together a hotstamped cash set of my own, but I'd be embarrassed to put it up next to yours!

And then @ReallyGoodUsername sent me a PM. Evidently he was having a moment of fiscal weakness himself and offered the core bits of the set back to me. Thank you! Thank you! And then the chippies arrived and I was very, very happy. :):):):):):)

I happened to have some great hotstamp quarters here waiting for them in my mixed set. And so the hotstamp set building begins anew...

Glad I could help. Best Tropicana $5s and Claim Stake $1s on the market!

It's a rainy day here so it's a great time to bring out the hotstamp chippies for the latest group pic. I was able to track down those peachey 'nickels' again (thanks again @navels & @ReallyGoodUsername) and so now the set stands at this. I think the set is done (again )! I'd say this will be a total keeper, foreva set for me but now I know better not to make such silly statements about my chips.

Anyhoo.... enjoy some hotstamp pr0n...
