SOLD Tropicana Hotstamp $5's (1 Viewer)

Offered for sale are two racks of delicious old-school, Vegas casino, THC mold, Tropicana 3rd edition Hotstamp $5's.

Pr0n first, details later...

Chips are in fair condition. Edges are square but not sharp. Hotstamps are a 50/50 proposition - some are still pretty good and some are fading - the splash pot photo above I think gives a pretty fair picture of the hotstamp variation. There are a couple of warpie chips and a couple of flea bites but overall quite nice. Chips have been lovingly cleaned and oiled. Of course, happy to answer any questions or provide more pics.
Asking $160/rack + shipping.

I was wondering why these were hot-stamped? The 1972 (previous) and 1985 (after) $5's both had inlays. Why did they go from inlay to hot-stamp to inlay?

I have no idea. But those chip change dates seem to jive with some of the ownership transition dates.

It's also interesting that they swap from house mold to THC back to house mold.

I think it's true that hot stamps are cheaper to produce than inlays(?). Maybe Ramada just threw together a THC hot stamp chip when they purchased the casino in 1979 to get by until they could do a branded inlay chip later.

Very nice of you! Thanks for that. But yes, I think @woog30 is looking to purchase three racks. I only have two... but put it with your rack and boom! - three racks off to a new home.
