personally, I would not likely use a Jeep as my every day driver. I know the new JL's (and 4-door models with the longer wheelbase) would be a smoother ride; but i do not think its a very comfortable, luxury highway vehicle. I have a new F150 that rides like a DREAM-luxury car compared to my jeep. And my jeep has run flawlessly, just that it's completely a different ride. Love them both. I take the top down 75% of the time and leave it in the garage and only take it out on nice days. I like the idea of a hard top for cold/rainy or winter months; however storage and taking it off myself might drive me crazy. Might need to rig some pulley system up in the garage if i had gone with a hard-top. Also, since I almost only drive it with the top down on nice days, i really wish i had me a set of factory Half-doors.

I daily drive my JKU. It's no Lexus but I'm not driving 100s of miles so it's fine.

I put a hoist in my garage. I can take the hard top off solo in under a minute (excluding undoing the bolts). Wind it down, pass the straps through and wind it up! It's just one of those garage storage things with a couple of straps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009I8AO6

Great work. This looks like the perfect set up for a hard top!

Jeez this thread is making me want a Jeep  :ROFLMAO:

Nothing wrong with a pickup buddy - At my one friend's cabin we drive down the snowmobile trail. My Jeep Wrangler is good to make sure the path is good and light things up but the pickup trucks are needed when we find a downed tree to claim for firewood.

Running Hells Revenge with my stepson in 2015. Kid was having a blast driving a Jeep like this for the first time.

This is where they filmed the final scene in the movie Thelma and Louise. It’s along the Shafer Trail in Canyonlands NP.

That looks incredible @Lil Tuna. I need to travel and wheel more places.

I went to Big Bear last weekend. It was nice to get out, but trail traffic was like the 405 fwy (bad). When it's hot in Socal, everyone heads to Big Bear because it's in the mountains and usually 20 degrees cooler. Last week being Father's day, next week 4th of July. Big bear was a zoo lol. Still no regrets, you just have to be more patient.

First two pics were on John Bull. Last pic was when we were headed down Holcomb Creek and had 30+ Jeeps heading towards us. We bailed, took a side trail called Lower Larga.

Big Bear looks beautiful @warewulf. Looks like that’s an older unlimited your driving there, love it.
First time I went to Moab I rented one just like it.
I can see all the little jeeps lined up, makes for a long day on the trail for sure.
I ran Elephant Hill Trail years ago with a bunch of people from the Nissan Exterra Club. I was in a Jeep and they were all driving their Exterras, everything from stock to super modified.
I have to say I was pretty impressed with the capabilities of the Exterra but wouldn’t choose one over a Jeep.
Gotta make it out to Southern Cal one year and head up to Big Bear, looks like lots of fun.

I remember the xterra was hot around 2003 or so. I rarely see them on the trails now. I had a co-worker in a Xterra club back then, she used to talk about them all the time. We do see some Toyota's, not many on the tough trails though.

I've been trying to talk my wife into a Moab vacation. She wont go in the Jeep though.

@Lil Tuna , since you wheel and like cigars, do you smoke in your Jeep? I do a high % of the time, but I have yet to see anyone smoke a cigar in a Jeep. I even light one up on the trails sometimes. It makes wheeling with a manual, coffee and cigar a bit more difficult though.

Last week I pulled up to the Wendy's drive through smoking a stick and the young kid said, "I've never seen anyone smoke a cigar before." I said, "You mean while driving?" He said, "No, I mean in person. I've seen it on tv, but never in person." lol

I have never smoked a cigar in a Jeep @Hot Nuts but next time I’m in one with the top down, I may have to give that a try. Unfortunately I don’t personally own my own Jeep currently, all those pictures I’ve posted are of rentals I’ve had.
Plan is to one day own a sweet modified unlimited Rubicon.

My girlfriend isn’t crazy about going on any of the more challenging trails, I usually have to go run those myself or one of her kids ( if they happen to be with us) will always go with me.
Moab is probably my favorite place to get away to, you’ll find plenty to do there along with Jeeping if you can convince the wife to want to go.
Lots of hiking, beautiful scenery and plenty of outdoor activities.
There are many trails close to town that you can go run and be back within a couple hours, Hells Revenge and Finns and Things are literally in town in the Sand Flats recreational area.
Arches National Park is just outside the North end of town and Canyonlands NP is just a 30 minute drive or so. If you can convince the wife to go, neither of you will be disappointed.
Pictures below are from Dead Horse Point State Park.

This was my face when my boss invited me out on a Jeep run with his pals years ago: all business owners with lots of money, beasts for machines with uograded axles etc, all basically mechanics with car shops, who compete for most hardcore breakdown. Called me up at 8 am on a Sunday morning. I'm so glad I passed.

Monday morning my boss says: "good thing you didn't come! Not 1 Jeep made it out of that trail. Every single one broke down. Some are still there. Ahh good times!"

:jawdrop:
And fk you for even inviting me lol

Vacationed at OBX last week. Hit Corolla and Carova beaches. Got to see some wild horses. Hit a bad storm when we turned around near the Virginia border. Sand and wind flying everywhere. With the doors off the fam on the right side got really soaked. Left side quite a bit too. Someone lost their favorite hat.
