Just got my Barrington LED delivered today. Didn't get the $169 special but did get $199.

Are there any cup holder upgrades that don't require sawing? This is my first real table and I am not the most handy person in the world!

If you want deeper cup holders you will have to saw through the table unfortunately. Super easy upgrade and well worth it! Congrats on the table

Many here recommend a dimmer for the LEDs. I agree. I bought a dimmer and a rechargeable 12V battery pack that I installed on the bottom of the table using 3M command strips. I haven’t taken a photo of mine but I got the idea from @BLK21JK and his photo here…

Just played on my barrington with the new armrest on it for the first time. It looks good in person and is super comfortable. We played & I dealt for 6 1/2 hours. I found it very comfortable the entire time. Also as a side note - we had 8 people and fit perfectly on the 84" table. I dealt the entire time and hardly had to stretch to reach chips or anything as a person who is 5'9. I am a little concerned about size when I move back home. The group that I will be playing with will be around 9 deep, but almost everyone is larger there. Not sure if the barrington will hold up then, but we'll see!

I’ve had 9 for MTT and it is a squeeze for those of us with higher BMIs. We would typically only have that many for a couple/few hours until people got knocked out. I think it helps to have chairs that slide/roll up to and away from table easily. Would I like a bigger table, sure, but we use the Barrington size all the time because it doesn’t take up a bunch of storage space. So in the end, worth it.

I've hosted with 9 people since this post. My group was all military so we were all relatively skinny. It was pretty tight but manageable.

9 is absolutely doable but 8 is the best.

We played 10 once and it was miserable. Most had to kind of sit sideways. We’ve played 9 and it is tight. If you aren’t fast food challenged, it’s doable. 8 is the perfect number.

9 is totally manageable.

We do 8 + a dealer.

It was awful…. Had 9 confirmed and 2 maybes who ended up showing. I gave in and let them play after they sat on the couch for 30 minutes.

So I finished my Barrington mods (for now) but still need to order a topper.

New LEDs, Dimmer, AA Battery Pack, and Jumbo Cupholders

COB LEDs
I wasn't the biggest fan of the blue LEDs and didn't like how they were so spaced out. I saw someone talk about the COB LEDs and how they are amost diffused already and ordered the warm white and couldn't be happier. The LEDs are very close together so you don't need to put something in front of them to diffuse them like I was trying to do with the old LEDs. Instead of ripping out the old LEDs, I actually just wedged the new LEDs right on top of the current ones. It worked out great.

I did have to cut the light strip and attach another tail end. Very easy to do but measure accurately before you cut! You don't have much leeway with the 16.4ft strip. And then used the Y connector that also came with the COB connector package.

Screwed and glued on some velcro, glued velcro to the battery pack, then buttoned up everything else. Happy with it.

Pried off the old ones with a vise grip, drilled a center hole down with a standard bit, then drilled from the bottom up with the 3 5/8in hole saw starting it the pre drilled hole. I got them all done but it was a bit of a struggle with the hole saw I bought. If I would do it again, I would get one that was deeper. This one barely made it through both pieces of wood.

These are just the improvements I want to make, thanks for posting.
After you make the hole through from underneath, do you need to cut slices in the edge of the vinyl/foam so the larger cup holder will drop in?

I gently ripped out the foam, pretty much in-line with the hole saw. I did not cut the vinyl at all, I didn't want to in fear that over time a small slit could lead to a tear with use (people leaning on it, etc). The vinyl will stretch without issue when you put the jumbo cup holders in.

In a few spots the foam ripped out a little too much, causing a void that you could kind of feel around the edge of the cup holder. I just took the cup holder back out and jammed in a piece of foam and reseated the cup holder and it seemed to work well.

Also, be careful with the hole saw, you don't want to be pushing too hard when you reach the end of the wood and tear through the vinyl. The one I bought was barely deep enough (looking back maybe a positive) and I pushed through too hard on one of them and tore the vinyl. A little scary but it didn't do too much damage thankfully.

I didn’t know these LEDs existed, those are fantastic! Could should shoot a couple close up pics with them on and off? Would love to see how they look wedged in there.

Pre-drilling
What I meant by pre-drilling is just drilling a pilot hole through the wood as close to the center as you can get after you pull out the old cup holder. If anything just a hair closer to the playing field, not closer to the seating area (to avoid hitting the inside edge with your hole saw).

Then, after you have your pilot hole drilled, you know exactly where you need to start drilling with your hole saw from the other side by matching up the center drill bit of your hole saw with the hole you just made.

Go slow and try to recognize how deep you are so you know when you are close. You are going through 2 pieces of wood.

Removing LEDs
I did not remove the old LEDs. I just threw the new COB LEDs over the top of the originals to "see what they look like" but they fit so nice I just left them there. Kept the adhesive backing intact, but I did peel back about 4 inches on the ends exposing the adhesive since that does need to be attached securely at the table divide, and stuck it right to the current LEDs.
