13.5k for 993 was right here on PCF
Nobody dibsed it in public so as someone already mentioned you could have just said it was sold. No proof.

Sorry for the thread crapping, sincerely. I was originally just responding to someone's question to the chips actual value here on PCF.

Please do not use any of my pictures again without permission & GLWS.

No one dibsed it in public - so it can't be real! Yes yes... it would be... like....impossible to dm the seller without first saying "dibs"

I don't mean ill to this thread or the seller, in fact I wish you the best of luck with the sale. Probably won't even have to, because of popular these are, and will surely be picked up quickly. But just out of curiosity, to the more experienced chippers, what exactly makes these "the greatest chips ever made"?
Bought a shuffle stack a while ago and my honest reaction to the hype was "for Paulsons, they're ok"

Some thing the greatest designed mold, def not greatest chips ever made, but a very well done popular chip set that was one time available to the general public making easier than most clay poker sets to build and add on. Greatest chip ever surely would be before the 90s w lead and heavier.

Not leaded, and public retail offering? That takes it down 2 notches for the goat category IMHO.
I’m the opposite in swinging for the fence on price just in case someone has built up angst for buying a set. I agree that this isn’t eBay and with chip OGs that know the value of these and a searchable history on PCF makes me shake my head when I see these.
We all have overpaid for chips we need/love and undersold for chips that we don’t need. Such is this crazy hobby.

Easy. The market for them was miniscule.
I was following the design of these on ChipTalk waaay back. I loved the mold, and the colors for the most part. There were some great ideas for the inlay/casino name but the guy who “assumed charge” said: “well, since no one can make up their mind on the inlay I like “Top Hat & Cane” so we’ll go with that”. I was like …really?! …finally a perfect set of chips we have a say in the design of and YOU choose the dumbest name possible? This guy was also the brainchild for the “Private Cardroom” hotstamps.
They were $1 each then and I very regret not getting any at the time, lol!

I tried for a while to secure some avalon 5s/PCA. Was going to ship to gear for some awesome saw blade style fracs. Someone else did it on PCF. Sadly, could never lock down the chips outside of buying a whole set of Avalons for like 4.5k.
I see the Fleur de Lis. Your table? Fellow who dat?

The original designer didn't just go and have these made, he was working with the company that funded the purchase, Trademark Poker. I assume they had the final decisions on which ideas moved forward. Here's a bit more abouth the WTHC origin from the designer:

Ahhh!…so he must have been “the guy”, lol!
I just remember the ‘design discussion/initial group buy’ thread that went on for two or three months. Everyone was so excited to get the concentric circles and fancy edge spots that we really wanted for the Pharaoh’s but weren’t allowed, so all that was left was an awesome inlay! There was a handful of good ideas but, again, after a few months of excited deliberation, this one guy, who seemed to be spearheading the thread, says something to the effect of: “well, there’s a top hat and cane in the mold, so we’ll go ahead and call it “Top Hat & Cane”…I just felt it was a squandered opportunity for at least a mediocre theme and a waste of time and adrenaline to have a discussion thread about it, but that’s just my (and a few others at the time) opinion. Paulson has the final say in everything but, beyond that, you’re correct in that the guy paying the upfront money and placing the order has the next final say.
I do think that Johnny 5 (I believe I’m giving correct credit) did an amazing job with the inlay design and these chips overall are gorgeous!

Anyway, I don’t wanna hijack OP’s ad with chip history, lol!

GLWS! :)
