Yeah, I honestly wasn't even going to respond. Lol I get it if it was misconstrued as more overt than it was, I'm constantly clarifying things I post, but to act like I'm making things up is a little weak.

And I've shipped a few chipments to Canada, I love our neighbors!

I feel I need to clarify something before anything else is misconstrued. I didn't create this thread to start pissing matches. I wondered if there was a legit reason for American sellers to not want to ship to other countries. In one post I ended the question with words Nationalistic OR lazy. Not both used to describe anybody, group or person. In fact the "laziness" I referred to was a bit of a wink-wink-nudge, nudge to Mr. Martino's (Gnu's) post from a while back when he listed his CPS's. Obviously no one here is not going to ship to Canada because of some disdain....I hope. I also wasn't looking for what-if scenarios. I was simply interested to know the why's. Which in some cases were valid.

According to many citizens in the US, you might get a large flood of chips coming to Canada in January of 2017 when Trump wins. Then all your problems will be solved

Myself, barring a personal connection to the buyer, I don't sell outside the US because I don't like the way chip prices double or triple when they're offered for sale from Europe, independent of shipping.

Must be private sales - I've never seen you sell anything, just buy When you do decide to sell, forget CONUS, just sell in Manatee County.

Last time I checked, AK was in North America.

Although I do not make it a habit to sell much, I have had a few pretty good Group Buys and I ship wherever someone needs it to go. As long as they accept responsibility and/or insure the package if something goes wrong! I have shipped several packages to France to help out a fellow chipper. It only takes a few seconds more to fill out the customs declaration form, so it is no big deal. Not one package lost in France. I did have one package that recently went missing in Malaysia but thankfully it was only cards!

I think I even have shipped to @AK Chip a few times before.

I've shipped chips internationally, and not, but never on eBay.

If I think I am familiar enough with a buyer to know that he or she won't come after me for a lost-in-transit shipment due to Country X's wonky and/or corrupt postal system, or if I am willing to risk potential liability, then I have no problem filling out the form and shipping overseas.

I've sold sets that were beyond my comfort level in that regard and restricted the sale to U.S. addresses.

I think I also used to mistakenly list things as "con u.s. only" (or something similar) before realizing that Hawaii, Alaska, FPO, etc. aren't any different in terms of what I have to do as a shipper.

I've shipped $3000+ worth of chips from the US to Australia. Holy shit that was stressful. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Chippers all over the world deserve the opportunity to buy cool chips. They are already getting screwed with shipping costs (and they accept that), so the least I can do is take a few minutes to fill out a customs form.

This week, I have shipped two packages to Conus and one to Canada. Last week, one to Germany.

And today, I' ve received one package (full of NFL shirts) from one of my very fav' US reshipper (y) :thumbsup:

If I were selling to "France métropolitaine" only (our continental FR), I'd sell ... nothing

Us member ships Conus only ?

Firstly because he knows he can sell easily in Conus.

Secondly, and as mentionned before, seller's responsible for shipping so
this is his right to decide where he ships or not.

PCF is a great community.
Lots of US members will give theirr time and help if you need a re-ship. Believe me.

I have shipped internationally many times (as well and received chips from overseas).
I have shipped chips to Canada, Germany, UK, Switzerland, France, Australia, etc.
I have also bought chips via PCF and other forums as well as feeBay from some of the same countries.
Only real issues I've had were me as a buyer - some horrendous packaging and missing chips from a France chipper, and some delayed packages... latest was about a month for some chips from Switzerland (they eventually arrived safe and sound).

Not sure how long this has been in effect, but most (not 100% sure this applies for All countries) USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Boxes (all sizes) are insured for $200 by default (assuming you declare the correct value) and are insurable up to $X amount depending on the destination country.
For example:
UAE (Abu Dhabi) - you can insure a flat rate box for up to $5000!
Afghanistan - no additional insurance (max $200 default only)
Germany - $500 max
France - $650 max
Canada - $675 max
French Polynesia - $4,519 max :
Gabon - $523 max :

^ Must be new. Last time I shipped Priority International, insurance was not available for SFRB -- had to be a MFRB or larger. Shipping three barrels of chips worth $600 required a much larger box than needed in order to be insured, and was extremely expensive - prohibitively so.

I've been burned twice as a shipper to France, shipping chips in SFRB without insurance. Never again.

CONUS is the acronym for Contiguous United States (the most common), Conterminous United States (where states share boundaries, so the same as Contiguous US), and Continental United States. I've always known it as Contiguous, hence the exclusion of Alaska, Hawaii, and FBO, and was not familiar with the term Continental US until I looked it up today.

I started using U-Pic for insurance. It is less expensive and you can insure for up to $1500 CONUS for $15, Canada for $17.25 and France for $24 tracked.

Lots of "should" in your post... despite your assertions of what I should do, I reserve the right to sell my belongings how I want.

There are very few options to ship internationally that I'm comfortable with. And to be frank, the "buyer assumes all risk" is bullshit. Sure, maybe in some legal (forum etiquette) sense im covered and am not responsible... but if I take a forum members money (say $2,000) and package the chips nulclear proof, and ship them off, but they get lost or stolen in transit, I'm going to feel like shit keeping the money. I know How I would feel if I paid $2k to a forum member, they tell me the chips were shipped, but they never arrive, ever... I'd be pissed (and out 2k). I wouldn't want that to happen to someone I'm sending chips to. So, for the entire 2-4 weeks of transit time, I'm going to be on edge until I get confirmation the package arrived.

And I'm not sure where people are getting their insurance, but good luck getting a claim through when it's nearly impossible to track packages internationally. Has anyone ever filed an international insurance claim, and how'd that work out? If it worked, I'm curious to hear how, since I was basically told by my post office buddy that I'm Effed! If that's not correct, it might be good to know.

I was told you essentially have to prove the value of the items (not just declared value), and it has to be a trackable shipment.

People should and do reserve the right to sell and ship to whomever they want - international or not included.

If an international chipper wants something badly enough there are plenty of PCF'rs who will gladly accept a delivery and on-ship for you. Just ask.

Unfortunately in reverse, most international members are forced to sell/ship internationally if they want to move some chips. Just a part of doing business.
