I was looking through some of the WSOP structure sheets out of curiosity and began to wonder if there’s any pattern to the ratios between the ante, bring-in, small bet, and big bet. Even if their structure isn’t optimal for home games for one reason or another, I am very curious as a math nerd to find the pattern or rule here. I’ve been looking at page 37 of this pdf.
So far I can tell that the small bet and big bet double every three levels. I also found that the ante hovers around 1/5 the small bet and the bring-in hovers around 1/4 the small bet. But this isn’t perfectly consistent - level 27 has a 3:4:12:24 ratio (ante:bring-in:small bet:big bet) while level 30 has a 1:1:4:8 ratio even though both levels have access to the same chip denominations. Is there any rule that always works to find the ante and bring-in given the small bet?
