Why the heck do you people bid on PCF auctions the day they're listed? (2 Viewers)

Or at any point before 5 minutes before its end time? How could that possibly help you, if you actually want to win the auction?

Also some people are forgetful (me) and bid what they are willing to pay now so they don’t miss the ending.
I got a good deal on some pink tiger fracs when the other bidders forgot about the auction. Turned out to be trhr most expensive auction cause I ended up buying the set they got broken up from...

Sometimes I'll throw an early bid in just so i know i'm watching it and i get notifications, because i've lost out on a lot of listings simply because i forgot.

Often times I just put in my max bid of what I will pay. I try not to fuss and mess with all the last minute nickel and diming. I just put in my bid and if it holds, then great. Sometimes, as the deadline approaches, I may realize that I am willing to bid more, but usually not.

i think we would have more honest bidding if everyone were only allowed 3 bids per listing. I would actually like that format.

I like the 3-bid max idea. It’ll never happen because that could hurt the seller, but it’s still a nice idea.

But I can’t get on board with the notifications thing. We all have smartphones in our pocket - set an alert.

I only bid in the first five minutes…saved me tons of fliff

If there were a 3 bid max, waiting until the last minute would be in everyone's best interest in order to have one more final bid than the person who bid before you

When they see my big baller status bid, it scares people to bid against me.

Yeah right

Or a type of collusion, someone may not want to inflate the price against a “friend” if they see they are interested in it.

A) FATALISM. Most of the time, the auction price is going to go where it wants to go anyway. So there is little point pretending you’re not interested.

B) RECIPROCITY. Most of us bidders are also sellers, or plan to be sellers someday. If everyone tries to snipe auctions here, no one would realize a fair price and auctions would die out.

Auctions regularly go under the radar here ever since they got their own separate classifieds section. Multiple times I've listed chips at auction that received no bids, then I turned around and listed them in the regular classifieds section either for the same price or higher and they sold within minutes.
