Why buy fracs? (2 Viewers)

Why would that cause a problem? Everyone knows a hotdog is not a sandwich.

I guess I’m different from all of you. I joined this forum to get information and discuss features of poker chips, so I could build the most versatile and playable set that I could afford. I’m not interested in being a chip collector or having the holy grail of chip sets. I just want a good set that will have my games covered for years to come.

i was in the same boat. First real set, Paulson solids, non-denominated roulette mold clays. Love them and still love them. Solids/starburst etc. are a great way to go if you want extreme versatility, affordability and real clay.

However if you always play .25-50 or .50-1.0 or any low stakes poker, why wouldn’t you want fracs? Also, fracs are used for antes in mixed games. I think there’s just a lot of people who play a lot of lower stakes friendly poker love fracs.

I don’t host games where we use fracs, we play 1—2 or 2-4 maybe and I never felt a reason to get them... if you don’t need fracs don’t buy them.

(until just recently, I went whole hog and bought a giant HSI set, and after spending so much money, and believing the price of these fracs and upper denoms would only increase in value, and be harder to find later... I decided I should probably just get some fracs too...now while they are available and relatively affordable to complete the set)

I think around here, and I am sure it will happen to you, is that once you get a set and have some real nice clay chips, it will take about 23 hours for you to be shuffling the chips and staring at your set... and your brain will glitch, and you will start thinking...”okay, this 600 chip set is great... covers almost everything... BUT, now that the sticker shock is gone, what’s another $100-200 going to hurt ? “

Thus begins the frac hunt.
