I wonder what would have happened if Tina’s were available when I was first looking for poker chips. As much as I love clay, the 43mm Greek key hybrids are by far the best bang for the buck in today’s market. And having owned and played with most things, I know I like those hybrids better than a lot of clay - RHCs for example.
So I wonder if, as a newbie, I would have recognized that, bought the hybrids, and moved on? Or if I would have insisted on clay, and paid more for RHCs? Knowing me, I might have, since they’re real casino chips. And that’s kind of funny, since the older more experienced upndown has a clear preference for the hybrid.

I'll mostly yield to that. There is a line between copy and tribute that should be walked. But when people design their own custom sets, too often have I seen them sneered at. There is a cohort here that seems to believe that if it aint clay it aint a real chip. That kills hobbies.

Same thing here. Unfortunately if you get into an argument with homeboy, eventually you’ll be in the wrong. Not because you’re wrong. Not because he’s not spouting nonsense that constantly contradicts itself.

For what it’s worth, that’s nothing new. For the clay crowd, the main target of derision used to be high end plastics. Ceramics were pretty much ignored. I think they’ve been doing that poker chip hall of fame for well over 10 years and I believe there’s one single ceramic set in there, and no plastics?
Nobody here cares about those old cardboard chips either.
