Whats in your golf bag? (1 Viewer)

Man my clubs are pretty old... guess I'd rather buy chippes! :D

Driver: Clevleand Hibore XL 9.5
3w: Taylor Made
Irons 2-S: Ping EYE2 Beryllium Coppers
Putter: Ping Anser - had this from high school. i have tried tons of putters, but always came back to this one.

Balls: usually ProV1's

Titleist 913D3 9.5 deg. driver
Titleist 910F 15 deg. 3 wood
Titleist 913H 19 and 21 deg. hybrids
Titleist AP2 irons 5-PW
Vokey 50 deg. gap wedge
Cleveland 54 and 58 degree wedges
Scotty Cameron GoLo putter
MG C4 balls

After seeing a board user's name, I just wanted to stop in to ask one question: double eagle or albatross?

I must be the biggest duffer here. I worked on a golf course years ago and used to custom fit clubs, mostly for high school kids. Callaway was the worst for shaft replacement - wait, Taylormade had some goofy shafts too.

Driver: Snake Eyes 10.5 regular flex
3w: Snake Eyes
Irons: Golf Tour (10 year old Titleist knock offs)
sw/lw: Cleveland 56 and 60 degree
Putter: Brass Ping Zing with the most obnoxious green Winn grip I could find.

I'm no good anymore. I'm one of those duffers shooting 90-100 twice a year.

If you are consistently in the 90's, you're better than the US average golfer. My index is a 12, but most of those rounds were before I all of last summer to a torn groin/adductor/quad. It turns out that I probably shouldn't still be playing ice hockey.

Callaway Epic driver & 5 wood
Apex 3H
Apex Combo set 4-AW
Mack Daddy Forged wedges
Nike Method Origin B2 putter
Chrome Soft Balls

The perks of working in the golf business...

After a good couple nights at the casino, I’ve got an iron and putter fitting tomorrow morning. Not sure what I’ll end up with, but excited to try out some new stuff. Been 10 years since my last fitting, swing has gotten a lot better since then!

Recently come to my senses that golf is amazing because if you play rubbish the cost is static!

I'm currently playing with some (lul) Callaway x-12 Pro series from 2002! Handicap is 20 after submitting a dozen cards during this season of golf, planning to be off 10 by the close of 2020. Big task but I'm committed!

I'm looking to invest in a set of Mizuno Jpx 900 our 919 sometime during spring 2020... once my swing is in check.

I know everyone always says that improving putting is how you shave strokes, but if you're striping the driver, its a way easier game. I just hoping to be healthy enough to play next year. thanks to herniated discs and ACL surgery, I have lost the last two summers.

Damn. Just saw this thread. Use to play golf weekly (always a hacker) and lived right down the street from a course. Haven’t played in years. Kids are older now. More reason to get out there and play!

I think it depends on the course.
Have you ever watched Golf Sidekick on YouTube? He literally uses a 2i for most of his typical driver spots. He promotes "stress free golf" I. E. If its narrow just take a "go to" club as opposed to Driver. I personally carry a 5i about 175y and a driver 200y and I honestly don't see much of a difference between the two when it comes to getting around the course. I might drive a 350y hole for 225y but if I 5i it to 200y I still only have a 150y shot to green - easy 7iron for me. I think there is merit in being a strong driver especially for 7000+y courses but I honestly don't think it makes too much of a difference at the average course. I love using a driver as much as the next guy but if I want the scores I'll rely on that 5i and the putter.

We all hack from time to time. The range doesn't give much help when it comes to landing in deep rough with a shit lie! I've recently just bought 200 range balls for £17 and a bag to put them in. Going to go to a local course which recently shut down to practice the awkward shots like this. Hopefully this will shave some shots off my actual rounds.

I've taken up golf this year and got a used set. I've hired a coach and I'm really enjoying myself this year.

Driver is a Taylormade RBZ 9.5*
3H RBZ 19*
4I through AW RBZ
56* SW
Ping Sigma 2 putter in black

Bought the set used, the SW was given to me by a friend.

These are my current lifetime scores.

I love golf. My bag may spark some discussion, though. Last year I put a bunch of hybrids in my bag. The hybrid is an awesome club, I don’t know why more amateurs don’t use them. They are really easy to hit and go far. My 8 iron goes about 150, my 8 hybrid goes about 165 - high and sits soft. I Will admit, I do take some ribbing - they mock what they don’t understand. Haha.

Driver - Callaway great big Bertha
4, 5, and 6 hybrids - RBZ Taylor made
7, 8 hybrid - Callaway big Bertha recoil shafts
8, 9, PW, AW - Callaway apex irons - recoil shafts
56, 60 wedges - titleist vokey - recoil shafts.
Putter - odyssey EXO 2 ball (btw, I collect putters like poker chips).

Driver - Cleveland Launcher (original 2008s)
3 &5 Woods - Cleveland Launcher (2008s)
Rescue - I don’t need no stinking rescue
Irons - Callaway X-20s
Wedges - Callaway X-20 approach and sand wedges
Putter - Scotty Cameron
Ball - Callaway Soft and Noodle
Other - All of my clubs are graphite shafts except for a very old and rusted Titlest 7 iron that I use for gambling shots like hitting off rocks and benches and such.

Driver - Taylor Made M3 9°
3 Wood - Titleist 910fd 15°
Rescues - 915 H 18° & 21°
Irons - Titleist AP2 716 5-PW
Wedges - Titleist Vokey SM7 50°,54°,58°
Putter - Scotty Cameron Prototype #2 1997 C.L.N.
Ball - Titleist ProV1

Driver, 3W, 5W - Taylormade M1 (9.5, 15, 19 degrees - draw bias)
4-7 hybrid - Taylormade M6
8-P - King Cobra (these are 15-20 yrs old or more - never found their equal)
48, 52, 56 wedges - Tommy Armour VCG (Forged 1020 Carbon Steel)
Putter - Taylormade TP Ardmore Center Shafted
Ball - Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis (Chrome Soft is the only ball I've ever been able to spin)

Agree. Screw the purists. I get a good 20-25 yard bump in using hybrids than I do from irons. A middle iron is probably my least favorite club to swing, so when I got some hybrids, that was a very easy choice to make.

I have a basic set of Top Flite clubs that cost $200 with a driver that I got as a Christmas gift many years ago, along with a couple of hybrids as mentioned above.

I haven't been on the course in years; always had something better to do. Grad school, now a kid. When he's old enough I'll take him to the driving range with me. I'm the very definition of an amateur, though. My best outing was when I shot an 88 on some random course in Florida when I was on vacation about 10 years ago and haven't sniffed anything close to that since. I pretty consistently shoot in the high 90's to low 100's lol.

I've recorded 1 round for my handicap in the last 3 years. At that point I was a 12ish, lowest was 10.3. Torn groin, acl replacement and two herniated discs have kept me off the corse. I took my boys to the driving range and felt OK hitting, so I'm setting the goal of playing more thus summer. Always wanted to get to be a single digit, maybe I can still make it happen.
