What was everyone's 1st set of chips (2 Viewers)

  1. 1000 blank dice chips (5 colors) with white spots (dice & crowns, actually). Used once. Still have them if anyone's interested.
  2. 1000 printed 11.5g slugged plastics (6 denoms). Apparently didn't learn my lesson with #1.
  3. 800 Las Vegas Pro 9g labeled unslugged soft plastics. Now have 3000+ cash/tourney.
  4. 1200 Prestige Pro #727 12.5g printed slugged soft plastics. Now have 2000+ cash/tourney.
  5. 1050 Dunes Commemorative 9.5g unslugged plastics (NexgenPro material), T25-T25K denoms.
  6. 1000 Venerati 10g ceramics from Sidepot.com, T25-T100K denoms.
  7. 1000 Pharaoh's Club 10g china clays, T25-T5000 plus matching ceramic plaques.
Then I discovered mint Paulson THC chips (President Casino Admiral secondaries), and fell deep into the rabbit hole. Should have started here right out of the gate.

Of the four sets on that list above that I've since sold off, I took a loss on every single one. And of the 40+ sets I've bought and sold since, not a single one. There's a lesson in there for new chippers.

I think a lot of us look back and say that too! Half the fun is in the journey though and I feel like I've learned a lot by taking small steps. Namely, I've learned what I don't like and don't plan to buy again.

Pre-PCF:

300 Dice Chips of Multiple Colors (First ever set from high school given to me by my best friend as a graduation present over 12 years ago)
550 Poker Knights Slugged 13.5 g plastic chips (still have a for sale ad on these here, PM if interested!) one year ago
500 WPT Plastic Chips (I bought the entire set on Amazon for $70 that came with the chips, Kem double deck card set up, 6 coasters, a really heavy card guard, a stick of dice, and an actually decent lockable wooden laminate case): May 2019
600 Scroll Ceramics bought second hand from Facebook marketplace in an absolutely stupid breakdown, but I was bitten by the bug by this time and wanted some cheap ceramics to try out, which led me to joining here: June 2019. There's an ad in the classifies for these too, PM me if interested!

PCF-Present:

1000 Majestic Card Room China Clays: July 2019
700 Horseshoe Cincinnati Cash set: August-September 2019
1000 Jack Detroit Cash set: August-September 2019
680 Key West Resort and Casino Tournament set: September 2019-ongoing

In the works:
44mm oversized CPC custom cash set: Summer 2020?

I still have my original 500 pc WTHC set. Been adding to it lately but wish I hadn't waited so long...

For me was about 15 years ago. I didn't know anything about it and I bought a 500 chips set of "Welcome Las Vegas" on eBay thinking it was real clay. :D
(Pics are stollen on internet) :

I made a thread about these yesterday. I like these chips a lot for what they are. I would love a budget priced chip with the feel of these chips and the label/edge spot design of Nexgens.

- Good ol' dice chips for my first set back in 2001, later added some custom labels.
- Then found Paulson Classics in 2005 and have been playing with that set ever since, in fact just expanded it from 1,500 chips up to 2,150.
- Last year added 1000 Majestics for cash games
- A few weeks ago put in my order for a 1,500 Rounders set from CPC
- And out of boredom I'm now looking at Tiki Kings Ceramics for another set

Some heavy (15g? 16g??) coin in center plastic chips. Flashing was pretty bad. These were not bud jones abbiati matsui plastic masterpieces by any stretch

I lent them out all the time, it was 1000 chip set and with the case must have been close to 40 lb. Always funny when people lifted it.

Anyways, who knows where they are now, and honestly good riddance. CPC get here in August

As with most people, my first set was a 500pc dice set.

No shame there, I was 17, didn’t know better and couldn’t afford better :)

12 years later and I’m waiting on sample sets of Milano’s & Majestics to get my first decent set of chips.

The first set were 500 dice chips (red, blue, white, black, green - 100 each) :LOL: :laugh:

... a lots of sets followed from 2006 - 2010:

--> Casino Royale plastics chips
--> EPT replicas (ceramics)
--> World Stars of Poker replicas (ceramics)
--> WSOP replicas (ceramics)
--> La Corrida (ceramics)
--> Paulson Pharaoh's
--> PNY's
--> BCC High roller
--> Mujaba Club (re-labeled Paulson solids)
--> Paradise Island (custom ASM)
--> Monsoon Palace (custom ASM)
--> The Vascoly's (custom solid ASM)

As I plan to play more regularly after Corona, I am deciding about a new set right now ... first I thought about going custom CPC, but right now the plan ist to go for semi custom ceramics from @BR Pro Poker (samples on the way) - either Tiki's or DDLM's

First set was Crystal Park.
I got a very large set on PCF and trimmed it down to “me” size.
I fell very deep into the rabbit hole as well.

My Casablancas are my “forever” set.

Gone to other homes:

Tons of racks of mixed stuff
5+racks of 43mm Paulsons
30+racks of chips I harvested in various casinos
Starburst Limit set

12.2 gram coin inlay "Jackpot Casino" chips. I still have them. The main problem is that white is the base of every chip, so it can get into a dirty stack situation quite easily.

Technically I played with dice chips and abs plastics my first few times but my first set owned was my primary PCAs

My first set was dice chips that I used for many years.

My first non-dice chips were a Dunes CC set for tournaments.

Then I discovered this forum and purchased my first Paulsons: Horseshoe Cleveland cash set.
