What was everyone's 1st set of chips (2 Viewers)

I had a set of about 1000 "sopranos" plastic chips. They had simple gold hotstamped denoms.

When I bought them I was told by the OVERTLY knowledgeable cashier that they were "clay".... lol

Years later upgraded to Milanos.

Then I found PCF and ultimately ended up with:
CPC custom cash/tourney set
ABC custom ceramic tourney set
AS tourney set

On order:
CPC custom cash set on SCrown

Potential future set:
Bosco custom ceramic cash set

Mine were Paulson Classics...Many Many years ago. Got them Brand spanking new after searching the internet for the best poker chips. I still remember the smell and chalkiness. I thought they looked dull. Wow, a few years later the colors were just popping! Originally, i got 1000 of them for about $0.90/chip and people thought i was CRAZY. Sold them last week.

First set was crappy WPT plastic garbage chips.
Second set was Paulson Classics on the the Paulson Chips mold.
Third was a Paulson THC solid non-denom hot stamped set (Fiesta)
The next 11+ years have been a whirlwind of mostly Paulson sets.

My very first set was a set of Milano chips that I still have. I progressed from there to a couple different things, some other CCs and my first real set of chips my PNYs that I still have. Like @FordPickup92 said I'm a huge fan of PCAs. I wasn't able to get them when they first hit the market so I've been playing catch-up trying to piece together my set. Be happy you got yours early! I'm still struggling to find chips to this day lol.

My first set of chips came before dice chips were around. We used the wafer thin interlocking plastic chips, at least when we used chips. Most of the time, we just used money. My first "real" set of chips was custom labeled Nexgens.

Yes, I was lucky and got them in the first ChipRoom sale. And then bought many more "very used " ones in the Black Friday sale. And I'm always looking for more!

My first set were these, from the original source:

Sold years later for a “make me sell my set” price.
Nice! I really like the color of those 10s.

Welcome to PCF
My first set was also PCAs of a decent size (primaries)
@Marhault is also a PCA collector
Awesome!

Welcome to PCF.
First set of chips were dice chips. ( yes I admitted it)
First real set of chips were WTHCs and still one of my favorite chips till this day.
Enjoy your journey @MrH.
Haha, mine too! I should have said "real" chips.

Lol, sweet! I know. I look forward to it....sort of, kinda, maybe.. I have already purchased a couple other sets here and there. One was the T25000 Horseshoe Cincinnati Chip set.

Blue Mountain Casino leaded hot stamp solids, courtesy of @BiGGyT. Still my favorite set, and one I will never sell.

If you ever find even 1 chip from this set (besides the single $1 chip on Amazon for $20, which I've held off on), hit me up :)

They were actually called ‘five pence’ chips..
Man - my friends and I played these to death.. I still have most of them.. they’re awful chip!!
I didn’t care - Eventually we all got girlfriends and stopped playing after school - but this was my life for a solid couple years

They did find a great home...somewhere in Germany now after spending about 15 years travelling around the state of Georgia to State Parks (like Lake Blackshear and Little Ocmulgee) with Golf Courses. Guys long weekends - we'd play golf all day and poker all night. I just have too many other great sets now, was time to let them go.

We all started somewhere, great story.

First set of chips were dice chips. The lady told me they were the same chips used in casinos. Got 800 and paid $163. I went back 6 years later (after I found this site) just to see how much I learned I asked her about what price I’d be looking at to get some personalized chips. She again pointed me to dice chips, and proceeded to tell me a single chip hot stamped would be $55/chip, and that’s about the prices that the casinos pay to get their chips done. Needless to say, I’ll never be going back to that place.
