Hi! New to the forum so forgive me for everything. I've been playing in other home cash games running from $0.25/$0.50 ($100 max), $1/$1 uncapped, and $1/2 ($300 max) and I've started accumulating chips to start hosting my own home game. I have an 8 person table and the dream would be to run both NLHE and FL mixed games. I think for NLHE I'd like to run either $0.25/$0.50 or $1/1 with a 200bb max. Not sure on what stakes to offer for FL mixed games. The player pool are avid poker players who typically bring 2 to 3 max buy-ins in a night.

Based on my following chip count, am I able to comfortably run anything right now? What else would I need to have a comfortable set to run both NLHE or FL mixed?
$1 - 200
$5 - 700
$25 - 60

Maybe I need another rack of $1s, a full rack of $25s and 100 $100s?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I think you'd max out 1/1 with 8 players each bringing 3x$200 bullets with your current chips. Your total bank is $5200.

Naturally for .25/.50 you'll need a rack of 25c chips. More $1s would be nice but not essential.

If you can get to 200x $25 I think you'll be fine for the 1/2 game.

Definitely need more $25's for the 1/2 nights. I would have a couple of barrels of $100's just to supplement your bank a bit, a full rack would be overkill. For a single 8 player table for stakes ranging from 0.25/0.50 to 1/2, the following should be more than enough:

100 quarters
200 $1's
200 $5's
100 $25's
40 $100's

Starting stacks of 20 $1's, 16 $5's, and 8 $25's for $300 starting stacks for 1/2. If you like nice, even starting stacks for 0.25/0.50, get an extra rack of quarters and run 20 quarters, 20 $1's, 15 $5's, and add $25's as needed depending on stakes.

For fixed limit, if your players are comfortable blowing through $500 to $1Kish or so a night, 5/10 fixed limit may actually end up seeming very cheap relative to their typical 1/1 or 1/2 NLHE night. Starting stacks of 25 big bets for fixed limit is pretty standard, which would be $250 in this case. I would advise to have $2.50 chips for 5/10 limit, but if you're looking to use your set for both NLHE and limit games with $5's as your workhorse chip, I'd recommend playing 10/20 fixed limit, which would be a rack of $5's to start ($500). For this, you'd need at least one more rack of $5's to cover an 8 player table. $100's are your value chips for stack top offs.

Though around these parts, lots have dedicated NLHE sets and dedicated limit sets, because more chips are better.

Welcome!

We've also experimented with only using 1 x $1.00 blind. We play pot limit games. This plays close to our .25/.50 stakes.

I run a .25/.50 with about 500 chips. Buy ins $65-$150 buys. We try to encourage some extra chips if people want without getting wild. We usually kick off with 4 people max out at 9 (rare). Set breakdown is as follows:

100-.25
200-$1
150-$5
50-$25
25-$100

First to arrive get a barrel of quarters and then people make change from the pot after. Seems to work well but if the usuals ever want to up antes to .50/$1 the set would still cover it.
