Hello All,

I'm looking to get a quality set of chips for a home game. I am open to either buying an existing set or a custom designed set.

What should I expect to spend for:

1.) A good quality pre-existing set of 500 clay OR ceramic chips?

2. ) A good quality set of 500 custom clay OR ceramic chips?

Thanks,

Clay chips (quality and desirable) can be had for $1 (super bargain) to around $4 per chip. Expect to send around $1.50-$2.00 per chip for decent clay chips.

Ceramic chips can be had for $.70-1.00/ chip

Custom clays (from CPC) run anywhere from $1-$5/chip, but figure the avg chip is around $2.00/chip

First thing I'd do is nail down exactly how many chips -- along with the individual denomination counts -- that are needed to adequately run the game(s) you have in mind. A 500-chip set is rarely the correct answer.

With existing sets, the cost can vary wildly based on the actual denominations of the chips in the set -- fracs (10c, 25c, 50c) and denominations 100 and above are usually more expensive than 1, 5, and 25 denoms.

I've found that once you have the required set numbers, it actually gets easier to make the financial decisions.
