I know WSOP is in Full swing now, but I’m interested in what happens to the tournament chips once the event is over. Are there ever any auctions to sell off the chip sets? Or are they stored away never to be seen again?

the rio chips probablygot destroyed.are going to be in Jim's next sale.
Nice! I'm imagining this as a movie plot for Ocean's 15.Just found this form online. I always thought a gaming official was required to be present to witness the destruction of chips.
Turns out, it only requires 2 higher-level casino staff members as witnesses.
All we need now is a couple of insiders.![]()
I've seen Penn and Teller use a shredder like that in one of their magic acts ... steal 'magic' shredder from Penn and Teller ... the movie plot is coming together!Maybe develop a “shredder” that when you dump chips in, doesn’t harm them…rather makes a lot of noise and spits out old leftover shavings from our milling process.![]()
Ok we need clarification. Is it true that only cash cheques have to be destroyed? Or do tournament chips also need to be destroyed?
IIRC, The Chip Room tried to acquire the old Rio WSOP chips but ultimately came up short.
those edgespots on the 100 (charcoal), 500 and 1000 RHC chips are bizarre
Nevada law requires that obsolete cash cheques be destroyed, but good luck trying to convince the Nevada Gaming Commission that the law doesn't apply to tournament chips.Ok we need clarification. I hear you. I mean they know there's a difference between a cheque and a chip. But you know bureaucracy and all that other cool stuff. We need an inside man lol. I'm sure they're worried that somebody may be able to alter it to make it look like a cash chip. Or maybe even sneak it into the next year's tournament or something? I can confirm they are destroyed. I would post an email from my contact, but I'm sure they wouldn't like me share it.I would love to get confirmation that the WSOP *Rio* *Tournament* chips are destroyed or TBA or unknown status.
