WSOP venue change (1 Viewer)

Unfortunately the old chips will most likely be destroyed like most other obsolete Vegas chips, unless @TheChipRoom or another reseller or resourceful individual (@Windwalker? :wtf: ) can get the scoop or the century

will most likely be destroyed

maybe not actually…

12.070 Redemption and disposal of discontinued chips and tokens.
1. A licensee that permanently removes from use or replaces approved chips or tokens at its gaming establishment, or that ceases operating its gaming establishment whether because of closure or sale of the establishment or any other reason, must prepare a plan for redeeming discontinued chips and tokens that remain outstanding at the time of discontinuance. The licensee must submit the plan in writing to the Chair not later than 30 days before the proposed removal, replacement, sale, or closure, unless the closure or other cause for discontinuance of the chips or tokens cannot reasonably be anticipated, in which event the licensee must submit the plan as soon as reasonably practicable. The Chair may approve the plan or require reasonable modifications as a condition of approval. Upon approval of the plan, the licensee shall implement the plan as approved.
2. In addition to such other reasonable provisions as the Chair may approve or require, the plan must provide for:
[…]
(e) Destruction or such other disposition of the discontinued chips and tokens as the Chair may approve or require.
(Adopted: 6/87.)

12.090 Promotional and tournament chips and tokens.
1. As used in this section, “promotional chip” means a chip- or token-like object issued by a licensee for use in promotions or tournaments at the licensee’s gaming establishment.
[….]
(d) The provisions of section 12.070 of this regulation shall not apply to promotional chips.

Well, by the time I receive the rest of my Cards Mold WSOP tribute chips, they will truly be "tributes" I guess! Little did I know. This may cause me to order more Cards Mold WSOP Paris/Bally's chips.

On second thought, I will wait to see how long the new contract is for. :)

I‘m not too sure if i like that, the one good thing about the WSOP at the Rio was always traffic and parking. Won‘t be as fast and easy mid-strip.

Caesars also has a convention center (Caesars Forum) at 550,000 sq ft would dwarf the Paris/Bally's combo. Located behind Harrah's & The Linq. It would also make logistics a bit easier (one cage under the same roof).

I always keep an ear open to Vegas gossip, but this one would be a short-lived move if it is made at all.

Sounds like a move to increase traffic at two lesser properties. Forum would be better for the players (space, don't know about parking), but Paris/Ballys would benefit Caesars.

Bally's was up for sale (the buyer went with the Tropicana instead). Caesars then unexpectedly took it off the market. I guess because they had to put the WSOP somewhere. The Rio has already sold, so moving the WSOP out is just good business, as Caesars stood to make very little money.

With the WSOP moving dates around, it's possible that The Forum was already scheduled for another conference pulling in more money than the 8-Ball tournament. I still think the WSOP Bally's/Paris move will be temporary until it moves to the Forum.

...but in the end Caesars will put it wherever it is cheapest, because they are some penny-pinching, no-customer-service bastards. Your comfort is secondary to their profit.

I thought Bally’s did get sold, same Bally’s that bought fox sports. I think they are public

Edit never mind I’m wrong. They changed the name to Bally’s and then bought trop. Confusing lol

I think that twin river casinos bought the Bally’s name. Bally’s vegas is locked in with Paris, and they would likely have to sell together.

Ballys (the company) bought the Tropicana.

The Twin River tribe bought the Bally's name.

Confused?

Caesars has rights to the Horseshoe name, so it was believed Bally's would be renamed to Horseshoe (which would mean new chips :D - but old chips destroyed ).

There is a lot going on in that space right now. It was largely believed that Caesars pulled the Ballys offer when post-pandemic numbers were ultra-high. Nobody in the know is officially talking, so we are left with rumor and speculation.

The chips will be destroyed. Great news for all those (or that one guy) worried about the Star chips ruining the Series. He can breath easy. Years ago, thechiproom had a line on the Binion's Bud Jones chips and it fell though at the last minutes thanks to the NGC.

Yup. It's time for a more drastic action of a Ocean's 11 style heist.

The tough part, convincing the casino you are only stealing the No Cash Value chips. In no way could it possibly cost the company money. And the plus side, they won't have to pay for the destruction of the chips.

How could this possibly fail? :ninja:

OMG! I would've loved to get my hands on some of those.

I was creeping the Nevada Gaming Control Board chip and token report to see if Ballys ordered chips recently, but the site says that it no longer publishes new chips on it's website as of November 2021. This is a bummer. Any other way to see these reports?

The chips won't be destroyed right away. The speculation makes sense, but the Rio won't destroy the chips until it's crystal clear that the WSOP will never return to the Rio.
