Cash Game What do you think about this set-up? (1 Viewer)

I do agree with @Trihonda and @Gobbs about getting separate sets. Plenty to search on PCF for the reasons why.

But it sounds like for the OP this is a one time experiment so the risk is minimal.

But yes, there is good reason to get a separate cash set if this catches on.

There is a lot of discussion here and conversion math for a one time experiment. Lol.

I’m interested to see where this goes. I’ve dealt with lots of local neighbor games where they started with tourneys (cuz that’s what they’ve seen on tv) and the games often times progress (grow) into cash games.

If this is what happens, and a cash game is a hit, I’d suggest the OP not ignore the advice about getting separate chip set, for a bunch of reasons.

Did someone say get a separate chip set for cash and tourneys yet? Because yes, absolutely, no question, you won't regret it.

If I win next weeks tournament it will be an easy decision ;) To be honest I'm already looking.
25/25 blinds- maximum 15 players
What do you think?
250- .25s
250- 1s
75- 5s
25- 25s or 25- 10s

Way fewer $0.25 chips. You only really need enough to cover the blinds and occasional funny bets like $3.75. And no $10 chips (or any other denom that's only twice the last denom).

This would be better:

100 x $0.25
200 x $1
250 x $5
50 x $25

Total bank: $2,725

There's a lot of wiggle room in the $1s and $5s. I'm suggesting plenty of $1s, but even more $5s so that you have a bigger total bank. That way, your set will be ready if the stakes ever get bumped up to $0.50/$1 or even $1/$2 (if it plays somewhat nittily, anyway).

I could also see an argument to go 200 x $5 and 100 x $25 instead, which would cover a bigger game a little better, but those $25s would probably never see the felt if the game stays $0.25/$0.25.

With trying to accommodate 15 players I think doing 200 quarters is reasonable. Put that 50 into singles as that will be the denomination most used in wagering.

10s are a total waste in this structure, get a 20 or 25, or just more fives.

The rest looks reasonable.
200*25c, 300*1 for sure.

And either
100*5
Or 75 or 80 * 5 (Depending on Qty requirements), and 20 or 25 for a 20 or 25 denominated chip.

I like this. At what point do you think I should move to custom/ hard to find chips? When the bank is over $300, $500, $1,000?

Whenever you are ready. I think your comment indicates you see the problem with stock chips, they can be reproduced cheaply and pose some risk.

(This is also a good argument for not getting high denomination chips at all. With the breakdown I proposed you cover 825, or 41 buy ins of 20. You can allow 20 dollar bills on the table if you even exhaust the bank.)

If a low end set is all you can do now, great. Right now I think the Desert Heat, showdown, mint, poker knights are good choices. But you can already start considering customs. Take your time to design while you save.

DONE!! Decided to use generic ceramic chips for 5, 25, and 100 chips but went with the semi customs for higher denominations to limit risk.
