What chips are you relabeling as fracs for your JACKs? (1 Viewer)

Hi everybody
I just started a relabelling project and I’m very disappointed at the moment...
Look at the size difference between the 2 chips. My new labels are not large enough to cover the whole place. And I can’t hide the little damaging of when I get off the previous inlay.
What shall I do?

Well I'm surprised , they look too small. I didn't have that problem with RHC-sized labels from him. Did you miscommunicate what chip type (THC vs RHC) you were relabeling?

In any case, you should work it out with Gear.

You might also be able to pop the previous inlay off by cutting from the middle going towards the edge. Then using some kind of pliers to pull it off. It seems you are prying from the edges which causes a lot of noticeable and hard to cover damage.

If you want to cover the entire area, you need to go with unlaminated and don’t remove the inlays. If you remove the inlays, that’s the right size label. It is just a touch smaller than the recess area. But the damage is going to show. I’d check out @grantc54 ’s post on how to remove inlays using nail polish remover. With a little patience and practice you won’t have any chips that look like that.

It’s possible I didn’t get something but I really took my time not do damage the chips and I think I’m ok with the nail polisher. But the new inlay is really too short.

It looks like there’s damage here from the inlay removal:

That’s likely from an exacto blade scraping the side of the recess. Ideally, when you remove the inlay, you’ll make a small incision in the top clear laminate layer, then peel that layer off completely without touching the sides of the recess. Then nail polish remover then peel off the bottom vinyl layer. When you are done, the chip should look something like this:

@gear’s labels are usually just slightly smaller than the recess, which is nice so that you can fit it in easily without wrinkling any of the sides of the label. Something like this:

As you can see, there’s a very small area around the top of the label between the label and the edge of the recess. But I think that’s ideal. Any bigger and you’d probably wrinkle edges when you put the label on.

Just to follow up on this a bit... Ben0586 isn't crazy! He sent me a sample chip, and the inlay recess is indeed noticeably larger than normal. I have no idea why -- all the RHC chips I've ever seen have had the exact same size inlay recesses -- except these.

I remade the labels, slightly larger.

Thank you Chris for your very quick and clean work.
I didn’t have the time to continue my relabelling project but I’ll post here some pictures as soon as I finish it!

Any more frac relabels in the past few months? Looking for stacks/splash pots with $1s and $5s to get some ideas going...
