Asking because a ton of my Joker's $5 chips had these. They did come out in the ultrasonic.

it is pretty weird how they are just on the edge spots, though. and it was very strange on the Joker's. little black circles, looked like pencil marks, all over the place.

That's such a small sample size in the photo of the Aria chips -- looking at the faces of 5 chips. On all the other dirty casino chips I've ever seen, I never noticed the dirt/gunk only sticking to the edge spots -- I don't think the gunk discriminates where it ends up sticking to. ;)

Hand gunk aka hooker juice sticks to all colors. Bud Jones and other high quality plastic chips are highly resistant to gunk accumulation, and is why they are my favorite chips to use in a casino.

I feel like there tends to be more gunk on edgespots for certain chips.

Seems like 75% of the below have gunk mostly on the edgespots while 25% (chips on the right) seem to have it on both. Small sample size so who knows. It will probably differ from casino chip to casino chip.

I only rub one off on pretty edgespots.

Seriously though, Black gunk doesn't show on a black surface. Run your fingernail (or tongue) over the black portions of each chip and tell me what you find.

those circular black spots are exactly what were on the Joker's! and yes, there was occasionally one on the red surface of the chip, just next to the spots, but the vast majority were on the spots.

The chunks of gunk definitely have a slight preference for the face paint.

And is it, like, illegal to wash your hands in Illinois or something? JFC...

Those Empress chips were AWFUL. I used Oxyclean and an electric toothbrush on those things, and it took forever.

I shuddered remembering playing at the Taj o_O

Another reason I have almost exclusively played at the Borgata when in AC. Their chips are always clean (bud Jones I think).

I just thought that the plastic composition allowed them to be washed or something.
