Someone said on here that it was 1. Better Chairs, 2. better table, 3 better cards, and 4. better chips, to improve a home game. I am totally in agreement about the importance of chairs, as others have said in this thread. Bad chairs at someone's home game and I'm just not likely coming back.

I agree with many. The biggest one for us would be a designated dealer. However we use the system whomever is on the button deals. So far this has worked for us decently over the years

Does a shuffle tech significantly increase hands per hour vs 2 deck self shuffle? And how’s the sound? YT video I watched made it seem quite loud.

No and bearable. The difference is having a full ring of players that knows how to shuffle properly. The sound is highly subjective and there are lots of differing opinions here. If you have a tv or music on, shuffle tech is mostly drowned out.
Honestly I would kill for air conditioning, although its pretty hard to implement it given the current structure of my home. The humidity and temperature of Singapore makes playing any group game a struggle. Playing at my friend's house(which had air condition) was an eye-opener haha.

We use two decks and have a dealer. The button shuffles the other deck during the hand, to the best of their ability, placing the deck on the button once finished. The dealer adds a couple shuffles and cuts before the next hand.
I don't believe this is slower than a Shuffletech, and it may be faster sometimes (depending on how long the previous hand is).

The main benefit here is when a table uses 3 decks and the ST set to the side-ejecting mode, together with a passionate dedicated dealer and a bunch of other bits and pieces of equipment you get a combo that allows a table to reach an extremely fast HPH for a home game (30-45 average before adjusting for player count/skill, inattentiveness and action mistakes) that is sustained over a night without the need to put shuffling on a dealer-player or other players with basically no downtime if that's the vibe you're going for.
A 30-45 HPH home game can be very reasonably overwhelming to people used to more breathing room.

I'll add on to the dream setup examples with my current extremely wasteful pipe dream luxury addition, which is a 3-set of Hollyland Solidcom headsets for dedicated dealers on the 2/3 table MTTs I run. I'm a sucker for the "wow factor", despite it being torching money for no real gain.

So many things, I need and want so much.
Top 3. For me.
1. Players players players, for cash games. For $1/2 I love running low stakes, but I want some $1/2
2. Better lighting. I need to invest in lighting. It will be a priority someday, but for now, the standard lights is what I got.
3. More TV screens. I only have 1 for a 2 table setup, I did receive complaints last game about being unable to see (by those that were in unlucky seats)

I had a new player at my game last week. He sits down and started to notice all the chips on the wall. He started asking what store he could get them, and I said that’s not how to get them. He was specifically enamored with Empress Star fracs, that I had relabeled as Tiger fracs.
He says, so how much were these? I say…$8 ea with shipping and labels. lol!
He was confused for some moments, and then laughed when he realized how stupid it is to make worthless fracs from an $800 rack. I told him it’s the tip of the iceberg.

This is actually bullshit, if it was a complaint, and not just a discussion.
It's your home, not a professional card room. If you have two tables, you've made a significant investment in tables, chairs, chips, cards, etc. I think the average home game player has no idea how much money goes in to putting together a decent home game setup. Sure it can be done cheaper, but not cheaply. If it was a real complaint, let them host and see if they provide an array of TVs that can be seen from every seat.

For the amount of love and admiration I receive, on a whole, and tips, I feel it’s okay if a player or two gripes. I roll with it.
But dam. Hosting be expensive. I just love it. Love hosting. I think some of my players are starting to realize the passion. When I got the dog roller, that really says it all

I'd like to see the state legalize poker. Then I could rent a space and host for hundreds instead of dozens.
I bought a ST a few years back. Used for about a year and then sold it. I much prefer the 2 deck shuffle behind method and so did my players. YMMV. I just got sick of people commenting on how loud the shuffler was (it is noticeable) and not being able to use any card setup I wanted without issue. Some worked great, others less so.

I’m trying out an I-deal shuffler this week at my game. It’s mounted on a side table, behind me. I’m going to test some sound abatement ideas beforehand, but believe most of the sounds emanates from the top.

This made me chuckle! We played this song a lot when my son was little and sang this exact line instead of “chicks” so we didn’t have to explain to a 6 year old what that meant. We still sing “chips for free” til this day haha!

On Wednesday we had 14 players who said they were "in".
We ended up with ... 6.
So we did a Poker After Dark format that was (supposed to be) winner take all like the show (and 1st & 2nd ended up in a chop anyway).
But I've got a few people who's "yeah I'll come" is "if I don't have a better offer", or it's predicated on "what I'm doing right now."
Just a vent. Lemme go check out my proposed Tina set and I'll feel better ...
