Heading to Vegas for the 2nd time in August and staying at the Mirage. Stayed at Ceasars my first trip and played 1/2 a few sessions losing a buy in overall. I play 1/2 few times a month and am a profitable player but have never jumped up in stakes as I am a younger guy with a kid on the way. What poker rooms would you suggest that are somewhat close to the mirage. Additionally, any favorite places to play craps?

Any suggestions on eats or advice on things to do and see in general? Not much of a tourist, more looking to grind some 1/2 and play craps. I will be there for the first weekend of college football and will be spending time at the sportsbooks.

Would appreciate any and all feedback!

If I'm not mistaken, the Wynn and Bellagio are both near the Mirage, and both are excellent card rooms. I think they may run 1/3 instead of 1/2 though, its been awhile.

I think the Venetian has a good room, always seemed to be busy (I didn't do well but I think that was all on me a lot of loose aggressive players the nights I went and I just didnt take good advantage of that) and I really enjoyed craps there. I liked how the Venetian was the least smoky of the casinos right in that area. Went to the sports book at Caesars had some luck there. Go to the buffet at Caesars or the wicked spoon at the cosmopolitan. I know they are buffets but the food at these was outstanding. I have wife and kids so we saw shows, not sure about for a young guy, maybe a different kind of show. The best show we saw was the Michael Jackson One show at Mandalay bay.

If you don't care about atmosphere Casino Royale across the street has the best odds and lowest limits on the Strip. If you REALLY don't care, the bubble craps machine at the back is .25 min I think and pays out the correct amount down to .01. A lot of fun can be had for $20.

Casino Royale for craps is the best in Vegas, and it's right across the street from the Mirage.

Venetian is the best card room close by, but I hate owner Sheldon Adleson with a passion because of his multi-million dollar efforts to ban online poker.
The Mirage used to have a good card room, but I have not been there since it's moved. I know someone here just played there, but I cant find which thread he posted in.

As Detroit Dad mentioned, My trip reports contain reviews as well, and contain far more than just poker or casino life. In 2017 I did not hit the Mirage area, so you might want to read the other trip reports (links toward the end of the 2017 report).

I really like the Mirage Poker room. It is small but well run the dealers and floor are great.

The Mirage usually will have 2-3 tables of $1/2 running starting in the early afternoon.

The games are very soft, usually filled with people staying at the casino and some old timer regular types that aren't any good trying to hit whatever bonus the casino is running.

The room is beautiful with bathrooms right next to it and the sport book on the other side.

On the weekend it gets busier and sometimes will get a $2/5 game off.

The vlogger Andrew Neeme has been hosting $2/5 games there lately because of how accommodating the room has been.

Also the food comps add up fast! Each day at the end of my session I would cash it out and had enough for a meal.

Great feedback all around!! Really appreciate it guys. Will definitely report back on how it goes and all the rooms I hit and hopefully have some Livestack pron to share.

What are the dates you'll be there? I'm going the 18th-22nd
Dang I'll be right behind ya. I will be there the 31st-Sept 3.

The last few times I was there, the fish were at the Flamingo.
Good feedback, going with a group of 8 with a few poker players. We are staying Mirage and half are staying Flamingo. Perfect.
