Bryce. This day was a very rude awakening. The second day of our trip it was 109 in Tucson. Just a minor 80 degree temp swing that we were not properly prepared for. Still worth every moment.

Looking through an old external hard drive for the first time in like ever, and found some oldies. When we were young and pretty (well, at least 50% of us).

Well @FordPickup92 ans I made it to ole Myrtle Beach, SC. Probably should have skipped the races in PA last night and lots of drinking... but so is life. The pad is our Timeshare in Surfside Beach, big enough for a meet up and only 2 of us here

And that's not even the place we are staying in, the lock out has a king bed and big AC unit
20220807_204835.jpg

A second kitchen, a huge bathroom... ohh and we are like 30 yds stumbling distance to the 24/7 outdoor pool! Bring anything you want except glass. They play music all night
20220807_211216.jpg

Lazy river closes at 10 pm but will get pics tomorrow. Sweet joint. Also have my night stand all set up and working on Slurpee #1 (girly sweet rum n cokes)
36 Landsarks ready for the beach in the AM, along with Margaritas. There is a reason I have the SC flag on my tummy and not Maryland. I hate leaving this place!

Sorry @k9dr no Fauna to report yet... but we will hunt some in the Daylight brother! Lol

Crap. We’ll be at Holden Beach in 2 weeks
Enjoy the vacation Fam :cool

Well... unfortunately we go to a very secluded beach and the "Fauna" has been extremely limited. I did catch this gorgeous chick walking down to the ocean... but I understand she is a member here
Screenshot_20220809-212814_Gallery.jpg

As for Me... well I was comfortable under the umbrella doing my daily workouts, 12 Oz curls! Trying to keep that beach bod intact!
20220809_124605.jpg

Decided to go "low cal" for dinner
20220809_172930.jpg

Hit "The Gay Dolphin" gift shop, a local landmark shop that has stood for decades now on the board walk of Myrtle Beach. Breezy needed a few T shirt gifts to take back home to folks.

Caught a game at the ole arcade on the board walk... I have been playing this exact game now for almost 30 years.
20220809_182838.jpg

Well up until 2 years ago it has ALWAYS been a quarter... but inflation catches up with every damn thing!
20220809_183328.jpg

Fiddy cents!! WTF!! Headed back to the truck, a DJ started playing some 90s hits on the "Lankshark by the ocean stage"... it was very low budget and only the homeless people and people with BAD drug habits were partaking on the dance floor, crime is getting pretty bad in downtown Myrtle Beach... we did see an awesome 45ish year old Hispanic Papa on the board walk with his family and pushing a stroller... I can't make this sh*t up folks, shirt literally said "I ❤️ Sluts" did not get a pic because we were literally dying laughing for 5 minutes... wife, kids, baby all right there and absolutely zero f**ks!

Decided it was time to head back to the condo, but as we both did so well keeping on track with our diets. We decided to have some "low cal" deserts from the best Ice-cream shop on the planet! After dark often this line can be two hours plus just to get ice cream! Every single night of the week all summer long!
20220809_191003.jpg

I understand that Ice Cream is not the most healthy of choices so with our waist line in mind.. we both went for the most sensible choice. The Peanutbutter Bomb, Brie one scoop, me... well never mind
20220809_191945-jpg.964599

Time to relax, maybe hit the evening pool scene for some brews... BUT Brie wanted to decompress first
20220809_214132.jpg

Of course we brought chips to the beach!! What kind of chippers go anywhere without chips to work on!

Hopefully the pool happens... either way, I am keeping up with my work out regiment

Nothing like a hike to get up close and personal with Mt. Rainier, to illustrate just HOW out of shape I am right now. Holy hell, I thought I might die!!! But the view of Rainier from the top of Third Burroughs was pretty amazing, almost worth the pure torture of getting there (and back). And celebrating 30 years cancer free with my buddy, definitely worth it.

edit: mountaineers.org says it's 9 miles and 2900 ft elevation gain. I probably should have done a training hike or two. Or at least walk the dogs once in a while!

For their 13th birthdays, we offer to take each of our boys on some kind of small "adventure" vacation. Main caveat is that it has to be something new - new destination, new activity, something they've never done - and they have to help plan it. Gives them a new experience and teaches them a bit about planning a trip. My youngest loves to fish; we usually stick to small lakes and streams - sunfish, bluegills, bass, etc. For his trip, he wanted to do a charter for something a little larger. After some research, we settled on a King Salmon charter on Lake Michigan. Just got home from the trip tonight, we had a blast!

5am launch from Ludington

An hour later we had our first one hooked. He learned pretty quick this was a whole lot different than reeling in a sunny lol

We landed 5 the first two hours, including two really nice sized fish that took like 15 minutes to lug in. Things cooled down a bit for an hour, then we snagged the catch of the day. The guys running the charter were awesome, they were like we're not helping you dude you gotta reel this bad boy in yourself lol

Got home yesterday from a trip to Miami and a cruise to the Bahamas.

Excellent recommendations from @Eloe2000 made the night in Miami perfect.

And Ace got his first taste of the casino. He turned $2 in slot credit into a small win...

...then hit up the $5 min roulette tables with $20.

Sunsets were magnificent.

Very cool! A trip with his dad that he’ll remember his whole life. Awesome!

Man oh man we couldn't wait to get back to Virginia!
20220814_102536.jpg

Left at 5:30 am... but really doesn't matter 90 to 100 mph for the rest of the 95 corridor... VA you really have to pray to go 5 mph and typically NOT possible!

Still 30 miles below Richmond which is not typical, but that means all of VA Beach dumping into the top of town in front of us... GPS says 1:30 PM... I'll take the over @4 pm!

It is soo senic @Seeking Alpha Social Club and @Lil Tuna ... when you experience it at 2 mph, you really get to take it all in! Lol

All that sinks into your head is leave everything up north... turn around and drive back to the beach! Hire someone to pack and ship the chips... they can have everything else!

End of the trip... home for the past week

Amazing trip overall, I don't get to spend much time with Ben JR (pops, I am a 3rd), means a lot when he can come down, survived Heart Aatacks, bypasses, cancer... it has all taken its toll though. Feel like my years are #ered there, the men in our family rarely see 70, he is 65.5.

Happier subjects!

That's one big duckie @horseshoez and @RivieraDanny ! Also found this amazing contraption
20220810_191347.jpg

Of course I had to get me a new duckies! Successful on the first drop... BUT it was 6 credits a drop ($1.50) I watched a little girl try after me, she tried 4 times and spent all of her credits (thing says play till you win, but like most machines in this place... that wasn't true!) I am no good with kiddos being upset,I asked mama if it was OK, the duck was pink, I had to have fun with it... I asked "excuse me, I won this duckie... but it doesn't match my shirt, the duckie asked if he could gome home with you!" She had the absolute biggest smile in the world! Y'all tell me when you spent a better $1.50, as usual Tearing up typing this out!

We spent several evening down in Garden City (about 15 minutes south of Mainstream Myrtle Beach) that place has gotten bad as far as crime and poverty.

The Pier in Garden City has another arcade, two stages with love bands playing, one on land, one at the end of the peir and both with their own bars! So cool!

Awesome times! I think I went to Myrtle Beach every year from 92-02 and then it became hit and miss years after that.
Always good times. Haven’t been since about 2016 or so, I’m certain I’d barely recognize it anymore. Was always a great place to go and escape the Virginia mid Atlantic Rat Race.

Valley of Fire is such an awesome little park. It doesn't seem to get all the attention that all the AZ & UT parks get so the crowds aren't as crazy. When my wife and I went for our 10 year anniversary, we got there nice and early and practically had the place to ourselves, it's one of my favorite parks out west.

Stay Thirsty My Friends!
I was in Myrtle Beach earlier this year, in March and the weather was beautiful. Out of all the coastal cities I have been to it was probably my least favorite. I had heard so many great things about it but I was a bit disappointed. Oh well, as they say it is what it is!

If you were downtown I 100% agree with you! Charleston SC is much more beautiful (still has its questionable spots) but no where near as bad.

South Myrtle Beach, Surfside. GARDEN City (a trip back in time... but beautiful!), Murrels Inlet (the old rich farts of Myrtle, but absolutely beautiful!) We go to the beach in North Litchfield, even further south.

But again I have been going since I was like 11 years old, owned a home in Surfside... "special to me" but if drug addicts and blaten robbery and violence aren't your taste... then yeah maybe pick somewhere other than downtown. Remember we are Baltimorons... that's just part for the course within 20 minutes of home. Uggh
