Upgrade from COPAG (4 Viewers)

When I got my set up of Superflex, I remember them being really hard to find. Is this still the case?

Poker size -- Modiano Platinum
Bridge size -- Fournier, Piatnik, Gemaco Superflex

Bicycle Prestige are some really decent cards for the price. Available in both bridge and poker size. Made by Fournier.

Easier to handle/shuffle/deal, and take up less poker table real estate.

I'm quite sure there are no Piatnik plastic cards available in bridge size. I'm Austrian and have never seen any plastic cards from Piatnik other than poker size.
By the way one of my favorite decks. But I also like the Modiano Platinum Acetate a lot. Copaqs were my first decks of playing cards as long as it is related to poker.
I don't like their slipperyness.
Yes Piatniks come in Bridge size jumbo. I just received this setup as a gift!

They can be found but you have to search. I do have a new setup that I am not sure I am going to use. They are poker size and I really prefer Bridge size.

I don't know if this is an *improvement* prey tell but you could always pick up a "no revoke" deck from Avonmore if you need a 4-color deck.

I will say that I stayed away from Fournier cards because of the Jumbo Index. I like Modiano better.

Geez their site looks like it was made in 1999.

$6 for a setup of 4 color? What's the catch here? Any one here use'em?

You told us your concerns with the Copags, but what did you LIKE about them? Telling us that might go some way towards recommending a new set-up.

For example, if you want a Bridge sized card with a textured feel, you could try Carta Mundis for a similar price to your Copags. As you said price was not a concern my immediate recommendation would be the Fourniers

Poker sized with texture I would recommend the Modiano Platinum Acetates.

Obviously, if you are playing long sessions with a dedicated Dealer, you might want to stick with bridge sized . . .

So what arte your preferences?

We played the Fournier jumbo bridge cards tonight. The the white of the card is brighter than the COPAGs, but the red index is darker and a bit harder to read. I wouldn't mind a similar bridge card with a brighter index.

My two decks of plastic bridge-sized Piatnik cards would argue strongly against your position. They are quite sure they exist. :)

Got mine from Trident, years ago. Mine are 4-pip regular index.

Thanks for correcting me, learned something new. Have to look for a set for myself.

Give me an hour, I need to rummage through my stash. Fournier like card with "brighter" reds.

Fournier 2826 Bridge. Not sure if available in Jumbo Index, but definitely a brighter ink in use for the red suits. A bit of an "artsy" card back, if that puts you off. I have two set ups, one is the Arabesco, the other is the Alhambra.

Carta Mundi offers a 100% cellulose card in their Casino Plastic Card (CPC) line, and it definitely comes in Jumbo, because that is what I have. Not quite as grippy as the Fourniers, but still a nice feel.

I would also recommend the Modiano Beehives. They are bridge size but not Jumbo index. The thing is that Modiano's regular index is a larger one than most manufacturers.

So there you go.

I checked mine as well...the only bridge size cards I have are the Congress cards. If poker size is an option, Fournier uses a lighter red for the poker sized cards. My suggestion would be a Fournier WSOP or Bicycle Prestige.

Left to right...Fournier/Congress, Desjgn CV, Fournier WSOP, Bicycle Prestige

Thanks guys. I was looking at the Desjgn the other day and posted on his thread about running a new set/design of bridge cards. I wonder if their Culture is as bright as your CV?

I'll take a look at Modiano Beehives.

Or, I could just turn up the lights! Maybe find younger players, with better eyes, etc...

The lighting might be a cheaper option than the cards. Everybody always starts with one or two set-ups. And then the questions start. and after the questions start, the only solution seems to be . . . more set-ups. LOL

Desjgns have a very bright white for the CVs so why not just go that route?

Take a look at the Gemaco SuperFlex cards, as well.

My picks:

Modiano Platinum Acetate - Poker Size, regular index
Da Vinci Ruote - Poker Size, regular index at $14.95/2 decks is a very nice option too (chipsandgames.com)

I don't use anything but these two at my home game

Da Vinci's are made by Modiano (kinda like Ford / Mercury or Chevy / Pontiac). Modiano PA's are nice, but they have the darker "security" ink for the reds. If the red on the Fournier/Congress cards are too dark, I suspect the red on the Modiano PA's will also be too dark.

True, it is darker on the Modiano PA's. The Da Vincis (yes, I know made by Modiano) are just as good imo. And the red is brighter too.
