UPDATE!! Drumhoss (1 Viewer)

I'd just chalk it up to lesson learned... never use friends and family and don't prepay for chips. We are not going to see a dime back. Casinos won't care either... they have bigger things to deal with

What other options for this industry besides f&f?

goods & services (and pay the fees)?
\
thats obvious but quite an inconvenience considering the amount of transactions that take place

imagine how much extra people would have had to pay in transactions with you, XXXXXXX

Is there a vendor vetting process? Just curious if we can learn from a lesson like this.

Not sure it would have worked here. Sounds like he was delivering on his promises in the beginning.

Unless you were to do some sort of background check or only allow vendors that have a history of “good reviews” or something, I think Mr. Drumhoss would have slipped through anyway.

1) For everyone who has a pending order you can contact me on here. Please start a new Message and Title "Update ________" fill the blank with a simple description of your order.

(please only message me if you have a pending order, that way it will be easier to find the people I need to communicate with.)

2) If you have reached out to me after my last post via email I have not received your emails.

[email protected] have been inactive sometime in January.

So people who may have contacted me and think I'm reading and ignoring their messages, that is not the case.

3) If you have contacted me on here directly, I have not been logged in since my last post. ( New messages are not showing likely to the reason that an older previous message from you has not been read.)

I will be logging in a couple times a week to reply or update members.

4) I have been working on fixing things, you have made it very clear that a mass update is not the way to go and communicating with Individuals is necessary.

Man I don't know you but honestly goes a long way. People should not have to message you , you should message your clients with updates. It is Okey to screw up and everything will work out eventually always remember that.

If there is anything you need help with you can PM me. Just stay honest and then the community has your back.

User Drumhoss has PM'd me to work out a deal to settle our transaction.

While it is not the perfect outcome, I will be getting some of the chips I had wanted, in addition to him returning some of the Warneke boxes that I sent him as part of the deal.

I will follow up once the items arrive on my end.

And I think it's safe to say this was all BS

Westgate sport book has 5000 to 1 odds for returning

Lesson learned, no more f&f for larger orders

And no more up front f&f for harvesting.
Just be prepared to pay more on the back end. Fronting purchase money (and tying up cash in inventory) typically comes with a cost, no matter who's doing the buying.

Its pretty amazing this guy disappeared, re-appeared briefly, then disappeared again. Does anybody know the backstory? I don't need the gory details, but was wondering if this guy just went out of business (without telling anyone), or is there something else going on?

Backstory? I'm not sure anybody has heard one. Speculation? Sure. If you lose the front money gambling, you can't afford to harvest the chips anymore? That guess is as good as any. That being said, I hope the dude is alright, and I hope he makes good on repaying people.

I don't think that really holds for live chips, at least not in a material way due to the inventory's redeemable nature and the just-in-time delivery model.

If I were a harvester I'd charge my profit and some percent up front as a deposit, let's say ten percent or $100 on a $1,000 order. I go to the casino and spend an hour getting the chips. The buyer has two days to pay in full. He doesn't so I spend another hour returning the chips for full value. The only thing I'm out is two hours of my time plus whatever infinitesimally small amount of interest the $1,000 would have made in my checking account for three days.

At the end of the day it comes down to trust. There's just no way a seller can send negotiable instruments COD as a standard business practice. Short of a face-to-face transaction money has to change hands before the goods are delivered. When trust can't be completely assured we can pay someone to assume the risk. Nobody likes paying bank (i.e. PP) fees but they do serve a purpose in this case. @T_Chan is constantly reminding people that he's a business and money sent to him should be coded accordingly - and he's definitely on the "should trust" list!

What's the difference? You still have to send the money before your chips are shipped. In what way does this protect the buyer?

only way to protect is to send regular paypal for goods .... either the seller eats the fees for the business or the buyer pays it as an insurance. Problem is that Drumhoss was very reliable with a lot of people and had sold a ton on PCF ..... then poof. This short 15 sec clip sums it up nicely. (y)

Everyone pre pays for chips when buying from the classifieds... I don't think paying up front for harvesting is the weak link. Either someone is going to deal honestly or not.

I am heading to Vegas soon and already have several people asking me to get chips for them. Whether I get prepaid or not won't change anything.

IIRC, the thing with ablackcar on CT a few years ago went basically the same - radio silence, then some comms indicating he was going to ship chips and make things right, then disappeared again for good.

Maybe not common but definitely not unprecedented.

Right. But they’re paying for chips that the seller has in hand. There’s a difference between paying for chips that exist, and chips that have yet to be harvested. At least in my view.

Yeah sure. If harvesting doesn't go well it literally takes seconds to issue a refund in Paypal though.

Ultimately, If someone is going to rip you off I don't think it makes a difference.

I understand what you are saying I just don't think making a personal rule to not pay up front for harvesting really provides much protection for getting ripped off

I just like seeing chips in the posts... “makes a man feel good.”
