Hello PCF fam,

I’m in the market for an ultrasonic cleaner. This purchase is long overdue. I’d like to hear about what you guys have and how you like them. My budget is $200. If I can find it on eBay, they have a 20% off promo code. Thanks!

There's tons on eBay in your price range. I think some of the consensus qualities you may be looking for are:

- 6 litre capacity
- 180W power or higher
- digital temperature and timer controls
- external drain

Last week I used a 20% promo code to get a unit with all the above for just under $88, free shipping CONUS from California.

100% agree.

Got a link? I was thinking about upgrading mine. (It doesn't have an external drain, which I regret.)

One additional point: Having two transducers instead of just one distributes the agitation more evenly and results in somewhat better cleaning.

How many chips do you need to clean before you feel the need for an ultrasonic to pull your hair out, take continuous hot showers, and swear to only buy mint chips going forward?
^^FYP. And for me, all it took was about three racks of nasty PCA primaries. Never again.

For me, it was more of a question of how many dirty chips do you need to buy all at once before you feel the need for an ultrasonic. I got an ultrasonic around the time the Horseshoe Cleveland chips came out and I had a very large set of casino dirty chips to clean all at once. I wish I had gotten the ultrasonic sooner, after previously cleaning many racks by hand.

I think if you are turning over 2000+ decent chips a year (or accumulating that many), you should consider an ultrasonic. Turning over, as in buying/selling/trading especially for used stuff. I've only been here what, 7.5 months, and I've turned over about 10,000. More to come, too.

besides chips the cost can be justified when cleaning your 2nd amendment, actually fantastic on sockets and other tools, some jewelry
I was debating if it would work on chip cases that are grungy, maybe not with TSP but simpple green or purple power

Just don't use a cleaner additive that will foam or create suds or bubbles -- that will negate the ultrasonic's cativation effect.
