Anthony Martino
Royal Flush
Played the Ultra Stack tourney at Derby Lane last night
Start with 50k chips, blinds at 25/50 and 15 minute levels
At the 500/1k level with antes an EP player made it 3500 and I'm on the button with KK and make it 10k
Guy in the blinds cold calls both raises OOP, original raiser calls, over 30k in the pot, flop 345 rainbow, guy in the blinds shoves, original raiser folds, I call. He has QQ, turns a Queen.....REBUY!
next big confrontation I get it in preflop with QQ and a stack of 22k against two players that both hold pocket 5's and the flop is AKT with two of my suit usually when all-in I say "it's never easy" but that one was
I grow my stack to 100k which is the average at that point (30 of 60 remain)
Then it folds to me on the button holding A7. Both blinds are short stacked so I shove, SB gets it in with AJ but I river a flush and straight and grow my stack to 160k when the avg is 133k
Eventually we make the final table, but only 6 get paid. There are 3 million chips in play and the chip leader 8 handed has 1 million and is on my immediate right
I make a few raises with hands like AT and AJ but have to lay down to shoves (opponents showed AK suited and KK respectively)
The blinds continue to grow and have just hit 15/30k with a 2k ante when I am UTG with 90k and the shortest stack
The table has agreed the 6 that cash will each toss $20 to 7th place, so we are on the bubble and I opt to shove my T9 rather than take the chance with the blinds hitting me next hand
Folds to the chip leader in the BB who wakes up with 77 and thats about the best I could hope for, but I don't get there, le sigh
