eBay is a myth lol.

Fun guesses, over under on value here?

Which side says No to $17.5k
Seller will want max “perceived” value for these. Going off of the other thread, I doubt he will sell these at a reasonable price.

Once he sees that nobody here is gonna pay out the ass for his chips where else will he turn to sell them??

Starlites are like what $5+ ea? $7ea? These are worth way more than $17k or whatever. I’d offer him $22k, selling here at $4.5k a chip and make a nice payday. Dunno if he made it as far as PCF he isn’t doing that himself.

Chefs kiss.

For transparency I’d also say auction here could help determine max value for @Oregon143.

That’s quite a bit of trust though from and for a new person, plus the overarching chip market has taken a huge hit and we’ve seen auctions (eBay and here) take a crushing hit.

But true market value and best dollar would be an auctio for the set breakdown you listed and then simply list the remaining for same price - or just do $150 cheaper each set you sell since there’s not going to be 6 buyers at the top persons price.

He’s here already. And watching this very thread.

Dude is keeping info tight to the chest. He is gonna want the big bucks for sure. If you say $22K then I estimate he’ll counter with $30K

Well, looks like it's about that time.

Can't wait to get my PM from Uni for a 50c/chip set when it all works out perfectly, thanks.
You're in this for the same reason that I punted off $100 in a scarney hand this past weekend. I was bored and didn't see a hand I liked in over an hour. Just with chipping retirement.

I'll be blunt. I'd be inlay replacing these. Factor in the cost to the labor to do this (plus the lacerations and aggrevation if these are paper inlays), I'm out for anything in that neighborhood. Given the market now, I don't think there would be anyone that would buy the lot wholesale at that number.

This thread as a whole is a fantastic example why you don’t post anything offline here.

If there’s something real to share, pm a helpful, trusted pcfer knowledgeable or close in proximity.
Why? What's wrong with any of this?

Its all just a conversation, PCFers are likely to have access to a few more chips, Seller isnt going to be taken advantage of. Who's losing here?

Everyone.

Uneducated and not always good willed folks subtract from the conversation, or at least muddle it, not add. Especially so compared to examples where stand up chippers come across a find.

In addition to public commentary, there’s a long standing history at PCF of intentionally submarining deals for no reason - at the nagb level, at the offsite find level, even just on eBay listings. And not to help or hurt any specific party - magically, somehow, you often watch both sides lose in that scenario.

These almost never help.

Edit - the responses here obviously solidify my point.

Counter:

The Starlites are inlaid, denominated chips in mint condition with playable breakdowns.

These are not denominated and I would need better photos to get a better sense of condition. I went through the trouble of thinking through an idea to make playable sets given what's available, but knowing how obsessive compulsive a lot of us here are, it's going to take a lot of work and increased capital in the form of inlay removal and buying labels to make it happen.

Nothings wrong with this thread. Barrie-ghey3 is just a day drinking troll. He cares not for most of the threads and just comments to get some fuel for himself. When he is trying to be “helpful” he is all over the soap box and always the expert while belittling anyone he doesn’t like or agree with.

And all of this is for not. Danny boy has been sitting here watching this thread and not commenting on it. He’s seeing the numbers we put out and then is in private talks here and fb.

I wonder why he isn’t part of the convo.

A very curious collection.

What professional cardroom makes a large chip set with no denominations? Roulette chips ???

Could these chips be from some "casino nights" sort of business from the distant past? <------ my vote

What custom chip set gets made that large with no denominations and not much in the way of a breakdown?

Curious minds want to know there is an explanation-=- DrStrange

Because he doesn't understand anything about it, but he has a gut feeling that he could get more $... The chips are good in my opinion, but their condition is questionable. Many have even faded. If I owned them, I'd sell them quickly and easily for $1.50 if they were picked up in person. Fantasizing about them being worth more is ridiculous.
