Now we know why international shipping is expensive, they have to visit every city in the USA first.

Just off the top of my head 6% lead seems reasonable, but 40% or 60%, idk....maybe, maybe not

I am glad I am not the only one to question things. A lot of people will believe anything just because it is written somewhere on the internet. I like to apply a little common logic or "critical thinking" to things when my radar of "this seems like it might not be quite right" goes off. I am also a fan of "back of the napkin" math so here goes:

Here was my thought process:
- Calculate the volume of a poker chip.
- Calculate the density of a non-leaded poker chip - 8g ish
- Lookup the density of lead
- Com bine 6%, 11%, 40% & 60% lead and the non-lead portion in correct % & just see if it makes any sense

Results of the Math:
No Lead Poker chip @8g
6% lead = 10.9g
11% lead = 12.6g
40% lead = 24g
& if you had 60% of the volume of a poker chip lead and the other 40% was air it would still weigh in at 28.4g

Conclusion:
Considering that my calculations are rounded off and are not 100% exact I think that it is very reasonable that in order to add weight to a poker chip they would have added 5-10% of the volume of the poker chip in lead. This would have added somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-4g of weight & probably was seen as desirable. There is just no way that any poker chip has anything close to 40 or 60% of the volume made of lead as the poker chip would weigh far too much - somewhere in the mid 20g's to even over 30g. I am confident in my work.

And it is lead silicate, lead cabonate and lead oxide that is used, mainly silicate. This isn’t a debate, it is information so people understand and get it right, hopefully.

What GPI says and what is true are two different things and clearly GPI has stretched their truths(I don’t blame them in a way, left over stock, pre-made chips to hot stamp etc). I mean if Diamond Jacks opened in 2006 and their tourney chips weigh 10.4 grams, did they add more sand and composites? 10.4-.6 grams lines up with common weight of 70’s-90’s leaded chips(40-45%).

Also I have said that I have personally tested Paulson chips from all eras if you seen my post as I work in ballistics and drawing on a piece of paper with calculations does not outdo a legit lead test, but I appreciate the effort.

I also stated that you can get lead test kits and use them on the chip dust, faster it turns red, the more you have in it. The lighter(pinkish) or longer it takes to turn red, the less. No red or pink, then no lead or less than 600pmm, no you won’t get a pmm reading but you will get very good idea.

I also was told by someone at Paulson long ago, I don’t base things I see in internet, that would be naive.

OVO is correct, certain colors weigh different even without the lead because each make up is slightly different.

And side note, I play with leaded chips of all ranges, have been for very long time and my blood lead levels are very low as I get tested twice a year. Leaded chips are great to play with, the best feeling IMO, and never will be made like this again.

When price reduction on Tropicana Black T25 Set?

Anyone have experience with Gemaco chips? Do many casinos use them? Are they nice? Eyeballing them….
I'm overall very happy with my Tropicanas Gemaco cash set. I'm not sure if they are the same as the tournament, but I was happily surprised.

For the price, very solid chips.

I bought a ton of them from the last Chip Room sale for a charity tournament that we were going to hold (which got postponed), and I was pleasantly surprised with those chips.

It's a great breakdown and the colors are pretty awesome as well. I was eyeballing them too. If I hosted tourneys I'd probably order a set.

Jumers t1 was the a steal. Limit set, amazing.

Those THCs though. Amazing. I was sleeeping and missed it all.

The red/white trops 5s are the coolest trops yet. TBH. :) :)

So I got my shipment of T25 Jumers chips today. Broken in and dirty but clean up nice and buttery. If you are looking for chips to mindlessly shuffle for hours on end these are what you are looking for. All hotstamps in great condition too. Chips are not bike tires and all stand on end. Photos later after a little cleaning session. Thanks Jim!

Need these in my life, if anyone has a spare set. Hit me up please :)

You sir need to go back into the accounting room. Your work ain’t done yet lol

Damn good job cleaning them up. They look great. Hot stamps really shine when cleaned.
I still don't understand the stripes only on the 100, but the set looks great.
A dish soap soak for an hour, clean with a spinning toothbrush, done. About 30 seconds per chip. Not bad. Ive got time. I’m retired.

Looks like maybe the hundos are from another set. They say rock island on them and the others just have diamonds
