Wound up buying the TD software for a tourney I hosted last night. I fumbled my way through the interface, but one thing that's nagging me. I have my laptop plugged into dual monitors, and my plan was to have the main game screen on one screen, and the blind structure on the other, but I couldn't figure out a way to do this. Can you only have one of the "game windows" open at the same time? Or is there a configuration that I missed that will allow me to do so

One of the known limitations of TD is that it will only produce 2 screens at one time, and one of those screens is the computer monitor with the main interface. What I do is I have the main interface open on the laptop and let it send the other screen to tvs. Players don't need the main interface screens, and when it tells you to relocate someone you can drag that individual window all the way to the right and it will show that on the tvs.

I've never used TD so I can't speak to it specifically. I was using The Poker Timer for a while then I switched to Blind Valet for my last tournament and liked it a lot. Since it's web-based you can easily bring it up on multiple monitors/devices through any browser and they will all be in sync. I believe TD has a lot of features that are probably not available on Blind Valet, but it suits my needs.

2 screens is perfect. I think the issue that I’m only able to figure out how to do 1 screen

How are your dual monitors set up in Windows? If you use one to extend the other then TD will only recognize it as one big screen. You need Windows set up to recognize them as 2 completely separate screens to get what you are looking for

I run TD on two screens. You have to press the X to take it out of full screen mode, move the blind timer to the second screen and use F11 to make it full screen. Then on the original screen press ESC and it will bring up the interface on that monitor.

Any templates worth sharing that's not already on the TD website/TD?

Yes I was going to say this exactly! The hot keys are your friend. Once you learn the ones you need, it makes running things so much easier!

100%. I printed out the hot keys and highlighted the ones I would need to use frequently. The common ones like rebuy and add-on and bust out I have memorized, but with some of the undo commands and screen changes it's handy to have the sheet next to my laptop

Weird, mine doesn't behave that way. I'm going to play around with it a bit more. Seems like I am missing a step in the configuration

Check display settings. See if there is a check box for dual display. I haven't messed with my settings in 5 years. But it 100% can be done.

Hey Craig, I’m in need of some help here. When you operate this on two monitors do you run into the issue of sharing the game screen on the monitor visible to the players?

Another question for anyone on here- does the TD come with stock sounds or do you have to import all sounds?

The instructions that Craig shared are pretty right on for getting the tournament screen set up as the shared screen. Here is a picture of my setup that you can see the settings screen on my computer and the tournament screen on the TV in the reflection in the mirror. You can keep the settings screen to only show on your computer while the tournament screen will always show on your second screen or set of screens (if you use an hdmi splitter for more than one extra screen).

The hot keys are definitely your friend when you toggle the settings screen on and off with ESC or when you use X to trigger a knockout or whatever you do. I really only use a handful of hot keys most of the time. Space bar to pause the timer every now and then.

As to your other questions about the sounds, TD does have some sounds built in for certain things. But one of the coolest things you can do is customize all the sounds to whatever you want. I usually change up most of the sounds each tournament that we run. It just keeps things fun and adds a little extra flair to your tournament.

I moved the tournament screen to my second monitor, which in my case is a Windows wireless display dongle connected to a HDMI splitter attached to two TVs. Once I drag the screen there I maximize and hit F11 to make it full screen.

Then I will press ESC and make sure the control screen is on my laptop.

As @MrBoosh said, the hot key reference is a must learn. It makes for management of the tournament that much faster.

I meant to post a photo with my last post but I forgot. Anyways, here it is.

Might be a silly question but at the start of each tournament, do you save each tournament as a new file or just clear out everyone and start over in a single file? Getting ready to run my second out of TD

I save every tourney separately. Main reason is for league play and keeping stats.

Second reason is to have a running record in case I have to go back and check anything.

Lastly, we run different tourney formats - freezeout, bounty, rebuy, etc. It’s easier to load a previous tourney that has specific settings already setup than re-doing it every time.

Thank you! That makes sense to me. I wanted to make sure that I was going about it efficiently.

Forgot to mention, if you have different blind structures, or different layouts you use, that may prompt you to want to save separate files as well.

If you are running the same tournies all the time with no changes and you don’t need to have a history of previously played games, then you could probably get away with just a ‘reset and go’ each game.

Thank you. I do that as well for my t25 vs t100. I'll organize folders for each tourny type to keep it organized/simpler.

Do you also clear the history from each file before starting?

I’ll load up a previous file that’s already saved. I’ll then ‘Save As’ and give my new file name. Then, reset. Ready to go.

I open my saved tournament, with all my settings the way I want. Then at the end of the night, I just exit w/o saving. Each tournament I have different folks so I add names once I have all the RSVP.
