Thoughts on this for a T1000 (1 Viewer)

By luck more than by design I’ve picked up the right number of chips for 8 players to have this as a starting stack for 1k tourney. Rebuys would be made up of 100s and 500s.

Do you think this would work or be a bit too cumbersome? 75 x $5 and 25 x $25.

My prediction is that the T5s won't be used that much, they'll just sit in their stacks and make chip counts take longer time (unless your players know how to manage their stacks, but recreational players usually don't). It'll look cool for a while, but then they'll just be in the way.

That said, I wasn't joking, I actually think you should give it a try. If it doesn't go well you can just color up a bunch of T5 and move on.

Yeah I’ve got 100 x 25c, 300 x $1, 600 x $5, 200 x $25, 60 x $100, 40 x $500

I bought it as a cash set. My players all prefer tourneys. Going to try them on Omaha cash game after the tourney on Friday.

I jest, but since I don't play tourneys I can do nothing else to assist.

My only other advice is quit playing tourneys and use that amazing set for cash games

That same issue took me 3 years to solve and now they won't play anything but cash.

Force them into it and they won't look back

If they like tourneys, you have enough chips - just make sure you get them all back so you don't have bank issues at a later date.

When I purchased the first big chunk of my PNY set (5s/25s/100s), we played T1k and T2k tourneys with starting stacks of 20/12/6/(2) or 20/16/5/(2). With your current breakdown, it looks like you could easily handle 8-10 players with some extra 500s for a few rebuys & color ups. We used the following schedule:

Unless of course, you're trying to get your players used to playing with racks and racks of chips for limit games....

Reporting back after trying this “controversial” starting stack and I can sum it up in three words... “red fives everywhere”

Now I’ll probably need to have another few attempts at this before being sure but the total volume of chips involved in every hand seemed to loosen everyone up and we ended up with one of our biggest prize pots.

I can imagine that having all those reds might be fun during the early levels! Was there a clear cutoff level when players stopped using them, or did they gradually move over to using higher denoms? Or, where they used throughout and everyone got pissed (as in mad, not drunk) when they were colorod up?

You ended up only allowing 14 rebuys total, correct? So if you felt there where too many reds, 20/20/4 could be a good middle ground.

Rebuys were unlimited for the first 7 levels. I think there were 22 including add-ons so that would have been exactly what I needed for 20/20/4.

After a while when the fives were only needed for antes I swapped 4 racks of them for 500s.
