These are Vintage Chips… but What Brand Name? (1 Viewer)

I have about 500 or so of these old clay chips in a box somewhere in a closet. (I found these photos online - but they did not provide a good resource for their origin.

I purchased them about 30 years ago at a swap meet and they were old then. They were my home game chips for several years until I got my Paulson chips that I can’t play without!!

Anyone know what these actually are? We’re they roulette chips? Or just old poker chips?

They look like old paranoid inlaid chips.

So far a lot of dead eBay links… but this one post did remind me that I saw these exact (style) chips used in the movie ‘The Sting’!

I remember seeing the movie and thinking ‘Hey, those are my chips!’

Short answer: they're known as "Paranoid", they were made by the US Playing Card Company from probably the 1910s until the 1940s, then by The Burt Company / Atlantic Standard Molding until at least the 1990s. They were used for roulette and faro, but undoubtedly also for poker; their usage changed over time as card rooms and casinos shifted from stock designs like Paranoids into custom designs using printed inlays and hotstamps.

Long answer: search the forum for "paranoid" and follow along as we all learn more and more about them.
